Bea's POV
"Do you think she'll turn up?" Tanung ko kay Ate Den habang hinihintay namin na magsimula ang training.
"Kung ginawa nya yung promise nya that she'd trust her gut on this. Confident ako na darating sya." Sagot ni Ate Den.
I can't shake off my nerves. I know we can trust her pero alam kong hindi madali ang hinihingi namin sa kanya. She has a full time job na alam namin na kailangan niyang iwanan if she chooses to play for the team. Pero there's no one else na alam naming kayang imatch yung skills at passion nya.
It was almost 8am ng bumaba si Coach at ipatawag kaming lahat sa gitna ng court. There was no sign of Ace. I guess we were asking for too much.
"Good morning Team." Bati ni Coach.
"Good morning Coach." Sagot naming lahat.
"Okay it's going to be a long day so diretso na tayo sa order of business. First the bad news, as we feared, matatagalan ang healing at rehabilitation ni Thang. On the bright side, at least hindi sya kailangan operahan so as soon as she completely heals and finishes the rehab, makakabalik na ulit sya sa paglalaro. Pero that leaves us with no alternate libero for the next two conferences." Wika ni Coach.
Tahimik lang na nakikinig ang lahat.
"Before I sent you for your break, I asked your Captain and our primary libero na tulungan ako magrecruit for the temporary position." Pagpapatuloy ni Coach.
He paused for a while habang nakatingin sa min ni Ate Den. Hindi namin mapigilang magkatinginan hanggang pati mga teammates namin nakatitig na sa ming dalawa.
"I am... pleased to announce that your Captain and your primary libero succeeded in their mission." Nakangiting wika ni Coach.
Anu daw? Ibig bang sabihin nito...
FLASHBACK
A few days ago...
Ace's POV
It's been 24 hours simula pinuntahan ako nila Den at Bea. I am staring at the CMFT picture on my pin up board sa office. My eyes completely drawn to the person in the number 4 jersey. Is this my chance? Is this our chance? Paulit-ulit kong naririnig ang hiling sa kin ni Den "Promise me that at least you'll really trust your gut on this." At ang paalam ni Bea "I really hope I'd see you on Monday at training Ace."
Matagal na kong hindi naglalaro ng seryoso sa court. Although kasali pa rin ako sa company volleyball team namin. Hindi ko maiwasang isipin na wala akong maitutulong sa CMFT pero ayoko din naman silang pabayaan.
Hay bahala na. Kinuha ko ang telepono at tinawagan si Coach. Hiningi niyang pumunta ako ng maaga sa Lunes pero wag daw muna ko magsasabi or magpapakita sa team hanggat hindi nya nasasabi sa kanila.
PRESENT TIME
Denden's POV
"Team I'd like you to meet..." Pagpapatuloy ni Coach.
"Ace!" Sabay-sabay na sigaw nila Deanna, Sisi, Shannen at Maddie sabay patakbong sinalubong si Ace.
She's here. She kept her promise and trusted her gut. Hindi ko maiwasang mapangiti.
"I was told that some of you would be very familiar with her." Napangiting reaksyon ni Coach sa kanila.
"Anyway, as I was saying. Everyone I'd like you to meet Ace Caputo, your new temporary alternate libero. Actually sya ang pinakaunang dumating sa inyo pero hiniling ko sa kanya na wag muna magpakita at mag-observe lang muna hanggat masabi ko na sa inyo."
"You trusted your gut katulad ng promise mo." Wika ko kay Ace sabay yakap sa kanya.
"Yeah, you really know how to get to me Den." Sagot nya sa kin sabay ngiti.
"Thank you." I smiled back and held her hand. She smiled back, nodded and squeezed my hand.
"Welcome to the team Ace." Wika ni Bea sabay yakap kay Ace.
"Thanks Kap." Tugon nya sabay ngiti.
"Okay let's start the practice." Wika ni Coach.
