Gabe's POV (Ooh shiz is gettin real 😮 (- Sam in fronta Gabe) right I need to shut da fuck up) just bc it's Valentine's Day fuckerz

Before long, a month and a bit had passed, and the snowy January drifted into a rainy February. Sam Winchester had less than five months left, though he had never felt better; he was on top of the world because he had realised something very important, and was revelling in the feel-good chemicals being released in his brain every time he looked at his roommate.

Of course, Gabriel Novak did not know this. The signs were almost abnormally obvious - Sam blushing every time Gabe spoke or even looked at him, laughing at every joke he told, even the ones which weren't funny, his facial expressions every time Gabe said a pickup line, him spinning around the room when he thought he was alone, him falling asleep with a stupid little smile on his face, and him waking up with a small frown on his face as he looked down at the pillow he was cuddling, as if he wished it was something or someone else - but Gabe thought he was either reading the signs wrong, or that Sam was doing this over someone else.

As far as Gabe knew, the only person who had ever loved him was dead, so he didn't understand how anyone could love him. He didn't see himself as someone special, I'm just another person among seven billion. Why would anyone chose me over all those wonderful people?

Yeah, I have Cas, Gabe thought as he lay awake in his bed on Valentine's Day morning, but he's my brother. He's obliged to love me.

All Gabe's life, he was a second choice, a last resort. Sure, everyone liked him, but there was always someone they'd put before him. Sometimes he regretted putting all his effort into making so many friends when instead he should have been putting all his effort into making a few close friends who loved him.

He just didn't understand how, or even why, anyone would love him.

"You had me hooked again from the minute you sat down
The way you bite your lip got my head spinnin' around ..."

Gabe sighed, moving to turn around, but a pair of arms stopped him. He froze, turning his head slowly to see Sam, fast asleep, clutching Gabe to him like he was his teddy.

Um ... bitch what? Gabe thought, confused, before remembering the previous night. Ah right. I was having some sorta freak out over a nightmare 'bout Addie, and Sammy decided to 'comfort' me ... That was nice of him.

Do ya think ...?

No. Definitely not. He was just being a decent person.

Gabriel shook off all thoughts that Sam could possibly like him more than a friend.

"Trouble troublemaker yeah, that's your middle name
I know you're no good but you're stuck in my brain ..."

All Gabe needed was a little love, but no one knew.

"Why does it feel so good but hurt so bad?
My mind keeps sayin' run as fast as you can ..."

So they couldn't help him.

"I say I'm done but then you pull me back
I swear you're giving me a heart attack
Troublemaker ..."

There was a niggling thought at the back of Gabe's mind. If I don't tell him soon, it'll be too late. He had had a major crush on his old best friend, but he had died before he got the chance to tell him - he left this world because he thought no one loved him, ironically. I know Sam's not gonna leave me like that ... but I've learned that people always leave you somehow. I've gotta make him stay ...
