You stumbled into your apartment after a long day at school, immediately collapsing onto your couch. You shoved your backpack off your back and onto the ground, pencils and folders spilling out onto the ground.

"Of course," you grumbled, moving over to clean it all up.

Your chemistry and European History notes were strewn across the floor, and you angrily bent over to pick them up. As you began to sit back up, but noticed a piece of paper on the coffee table.

Y/N, Dad and I are both working late tonight. There's food in the refrigerator, so you can eat that or order something in. We'll be home around eleven. Love you and hope you had a good day, Mom.

You sighed loudly and tossed the note back onto the table. Both of your parents worked constantly, so being home alone on a Friday night was nothing new. As usual, you expected a lonely night filled with Chinese food, psychology notes, and Netflix. You started to stand, but stopped as another piece of paper peeking out of your calculus binder caught your eye. You picked it up and unfolded it, a smile beginning to spread across your face.

It was a doodle your boyfriend Peter had slipped in your bag at some point during the school day. He had drawn a caricature of one of your teachers; a large, bitter man with tiny circle glasses and a habit of wearing butt ugly sweater vests. You laughed to yourself as you turned the note over, and suddenly discovered somethings else.

Meet me on the roof when you get home. I have a surprise- P

You furrowed your eyebrows and looked up from the paper. Slowly, you stood up and made your way to your room, where you lifted the window open and climbed out onto the fire escape. You and Peter had lived in the same apartment building your entire lives, and often hung out on the roof. But normally, if Peter wanted to talk to you, he would just come knock on your window. This was odd.

You started up the ladder toward the roof, passing a few apartments before reaching Peter's. You peeked through the window, scanning his room for any signs of life. It was empty. You sighed again and started towards the roof, reaching it a few moments later.

"Hello? Peter?" You called as you wiped your palms on your jeans. "Helllooo?!"

"Y/N! Hey!"

Peters head popped out from behind an air conditioner, a massive grin plastered on his lips. He rushed over and kissed your cheek quickly.

"What are you doing up here?" You asked.

He ignored your question. "So, you got my note."

"Yes, I did," you smiled. "What's wrong? Why didn't you just come get me like usual?"

"Because I had to set up your surprise!"

"What surprise?"

He put his hands over your eyes suddenly and nudged you forward. "You'll see!"

"Peter-"

"Shh!" He cried, ushering you forward again. "Okay....TA DA!"

He removed his hands from your eyes and your jaw dropped. Behind the air conditioning unit where Peter had been hiding was a large blanket, several extremely comfortable looking pillows, and a massive picnic basket. He'd chosen a spot on the roof overlooking the entire city, and you grinned happily at the sight of it all.

"What's this for?"

He shrugged and put his arm around your shoulders. "I know you've been having a long few weeks, I wanted to do something nice for you. You love sunsets, you love food, and you love me. So, here we are. I must admit, I've impressed myself."

You buried your face in his shoulder and laughed slightly. "Peter Parker, you're just a romantic, aren't you?"

"Y/N, I wear many hats," he smirked, his gaze flicking out towards the city.

Yours did as well. "And what about your red and blue hat?"

"All I'm focused on tonight is you," he said seriously, sitting on the blanket and motioning to the ground best to him. "Come on, I brought those brownies from that bakery you love."

You eagerly joined him on the ground, immediately digging into the picnic basket for said brownies. Once you found them, you held out the box to Peter, who took one for himself.

"You're the best," you mumbled, taking a massive bite.

He laughed and draped his arm over your shoulders. "God, it really is beautiful, isn't it?"

"You're right," you agreed, snuggling closer to his side.

The sun was in the midst of disappearing behind the building. The streets below you were illuminated by it, and it was breathtaking.

"Everything looks so peaceful," you murmured. "It's crazy to think of all the batshit crazy stuff that goes down out there."

Peter smirked slightly. "I know about all that better than anyone."

"You've got that right."

The two of you sat for a few minutes in silence as the sun disappeared completely. Now, the light came from the moon.

"I wish we could stay up here forever."

"We can stay for as long as we want."

You grinned. "How's forever sound?"

"Hmmm," he thought for a moment,
"Ambitious."

The two of you dissolved into laughter, and he pressed his lips to your temple softly.

"Well, at least for a while, then," you reasoned.

Peter grinned and held you closer. "There is no one I'd rather sit on a roof with, Y/N."
