"I will tutor you four days a week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday," he said as he counted down the days on his fingers.
"What about Wednesday? What do you do on Wednesday?" I asked, curiosity getting the best of me.
His eyes went hard and cold at the mention of Wednesday. His body went rigid and he swallowed a lump of hesitation.
"None of your goddamn business," he snapped at me, his eyes a shade darker now.
"Okay," I said as my shoulders slumped at his tone. Seeing this, his eyes softened but he again put on his hard exterior.
"So at what time do we study?" I asked him, trying to avert the topic.
"After school. Directly. We can meet after school, near the school parking lot, after taking our stuff from the lockers," he replied.
"And where will we study?" I asked narrowing my eyes.
"We will keep alternate days at our places and the school library," he replied quickly. It seemed like he had prepared answers for these questions, almost as if he was expecting me to ask them. The school library was open till 7:30 p.m. It wasn't that big of a problem. Our school ended at around 3:30 in the afternoon and my shift started around 5:30 in the evening. So it was kind of sorted out.
"Okay then," I said.
"So see you later, alligator," he said, his voice no more cold and hard. He was back to his playful self. Funny, he seemed bipolar to me.
I was not exactly happy about this weird deal. I mean, I was the best student of our school. I was sincere, honest and hardworking. Why would I not be? I didn't even know if he was good at studies or not? What if he himself was failing his classes and just wanted to do this deal for his lewd desires? He didn't seem like the pervert one to me. He seemed more like the cocky one. But you can never know, what lies on the inside.
As if sensing my hesitation, he sighed and looked at me with a frown playing on his full, plump, kissable lips.
Kissable? Where the hell did that come from?
"You don't believe I am worthy of tutoring you, do you?" He asked, but it was more like a statement.
I let out a hesitant nod.
"I am too, a grade A student. It feels insulting to know you think so lowly of me. If you don't believe me, ask Mr. Wyatt," he said, mentioning the Principal. He sounded offended and hurt. Well, news flash, I didn't care.
"Oh well, nor you neither the Principal mentioned that," I replied.
"After you, I am the best student when it comes to studying. But you have been deteriorating so I think I am the best," he stated, feeling proud. I scoffed.
"Only because I am not in a good form," I said, rolling my eyes.
"Whatever. You need me. Not the other way around," said Nolan.
"Okay, okay. Oh and by the way, you have to give me your number," I said as I fished out my phone from my pocket and readied myself for typing his number.
"I never knew you were this into me, Brown. So eager to have my number, eh?" He said, jokingly. I just gave him the stink eye. Idiot.
"Okay, okay. Stop giving me the stink eye. Here, give it to me," he said as he took the phone out of my hands and started typing in something. Probably his number. He threw it back at me and I quickly grabbed it.
