"When did you even start liking me?" Sam asked. Jade sat up and hugged her stuffed, mangled teddy bear in her arms; blushing and avoiding Sam's gaze. "After the sleepover...I realized that I wanted you for myself. Even though we met before, I tried to make it look like I hated you. Just to keep from falling for you." Jade said shyly. "Oh, well you seem less...Jadey than I remember, looking at you now." Sam said, staring at her. Jade looked up at Sam and crawled over to her, putting her arms around her neck and snuggling her. "I don't know what it is about you, Puckett...you just make me feel weird. It drives me crazy, knowing that I can't have you." She said, slowly pulling away. "You could've had me if you didn't push me away." Sam said, holding Jade's hand. "R-really? I thought you were play flirting, so I did it back..." Jade said quietly. "No, I really did like you. I still do but I'm with Cat now, so I can't cheat on her." Jade placed Sam's hand on her cheek and stared into her eyes longingly. "I broke up with Beck to be with Tori, and I broke up with her so I could have you." Jade started to cry again making Sam pull her in for a hug. Jade looked away from Sam and pulled herself away from her. "Don't touch me." She said, "If you comfort me, I'll want you more..." Sam shushed Jade and kissed her cheek. "I want you too, but we can't be together." Sam said gently. "Don't kiss me!" Jade smacked Sam across the face and hopped off of the bed, grabbing her teddy bear and sobbing. "WHAT WAS THAT FOR!?" Sam shouted in anger. "I CAN'T STAND SEEING YOU WITH CAT! IF YOU'RE WITH HER THEN DON'T TOUCH ME! SHE'S MY BEST FRIEND! And...I don't want to break her heart." Jade screamed at Sam, but her voice cracked and she went silent. Sam rubbed her cheek in pain and walked over to Jade, sitting next to her. "Why wouldn't you tell me that you liked me...?" Sam asked. "Because I knew Cat already had a thing for you. So I dated Tori for comfort since I broke up with Beck. I didn't want her to become depressed again." Jade said. "Again? Why was she depressed?" Sam asked Jade. "Her brother died..." Jade blankly stated. "Oh, she never told me" Sam said, saddened. "that's because she didn't want you to worry about her problems. she knew you wanted her to always be happy, so she smiles for you." said Jade. Sam felt awful for almost cheating on her recent girlfriend, becoming deeply pained. "She's stronger than I thought..." Said Sam. "Yeah, maybe if I was a total wazzbag, I would've had my way with you by now, but Cat is my best friend and just because I want you doesn't mean I want to hurt her." Jade said. Sam stared at her phone and saw a text from Cat
Cat: Hey! School's over and I need you to pick me up. Ily <3 :* xoxo
Sam: Ily2 be right there.
She put her phone away and got up to leave Jade's house. "I gotta pick Cat up." Said Sam as she walked to the front door. "don't tell her I told you about her brother." Jade said. "I figured you'd be more worried about me telling her you kissed me." Sam said and got on her motorcycle to ride back to Hollywood arts. Jade ran in front of the motorcycle and Sam stopped, looking at Jade like she was crazy. "What now?" Sam asked. Jade grabbed Sam's face and kissed her one last time, shoving her tongue into Sam's mouth. Sam pulled away and Jade licked her lips. "One more for the road." Jade said, biting her lip. Sam just shook her head and drove off.
