Chapter 1: 2 Promises

3rd PERSON POV

*YEAR X776 (Past) At the Fairy Tail Guild*

"Gray, today you will have the best of luck" Cana Alberona said

"I find your fortune-telling hard to believe. The past few days are the worst days of my life. I mean I lost my wallet today, and I keep falling ditches" said Gray Fullbuster

Then suddenly the attention of the whole guild was caught when a red-haired girl around Gray and Cana's age entered the door.

Gray found it odd that the girl is wearing tattered clothes and wearing an eye patch.

The red-haired girl finally spoke "Is this the Fairy Tail Guild? The wizard Rob sent me here"

The mention of the name "Rob" caught the attention of an extremely short, elderly man.

"Oh? Ol' Rob sent you here you say? My name is Makarov Dreyar the guild master of Fairy Tail. And who might you be young lady?" said Makarov happily.

"Um... Erza... Erza Scarlet, I have something to tell you, about Master Rob" said Erza

"Alright miss Erza, but first you must fix yourself, go wash up and eat, you must be hungry" said the guild master

*Time-skip a few days later*

"Why is she always eating alone, even if I try to have conversation with her she just ignores me" Cana said

"Hmph, I'll go talk to her" said Gray

Gray walked over to Erza eating alone

"Oi! Erza!, think you can get away with not introducing yourself to The Great Gray, and why are you wearing armor? It's not like you're gonna be attacked here" said Gray

"Just leave me alone, and at least I have the decency to put on some clothes... unlike you" said Erza

"Wha-"Gray said, suddenly realizing he stripped again

Then Erza walked out of the room while Gray was occupied.

The next few encounters where Gray always challenged Erza to see who's stronger between the two of them, Gray refused to treat her like a comrade, unfortunately Gray always ended up eating dirt

One day Gray searched for Erza to challenge her again. He finally found her sitting by a river bank

"Oi Erza! I challenge you again!" Gray said while stumbling down to the base of the river bank. Once Gray was a few steps from her, he caught a glimpse of Erza crying

Erza stood up

"Alright I'm not holding back, give me everything you got" said Erza, trying to hide the fact that she was crying

"Ummm... never mind... I don't feel like fighting now.... Can I ask you something? Why are you always alone? said a flustered Gray

"Because I like being alone" said Erza in reply

"If you like it then... why are you crying "said Gray

"You don't have to be alone now, Fairy Tail is your family now" said Gray while smiling

Erza thought about those words and gave a faint smile

On that day two promises were made that day

Erza promised to herself she would open up to her guild mates.

Gray promised himself that Erza needs to belong to Fairy Tail in order for her not to cry again.
