Chapter 23: The Real Reason

ERZA'S POV

Why? Why even think of that? How could you just say that so calmly?

I was trembling in shock, fear, anger, sorrow, but it wasn't because the thought of Gray leaving Fairy Tail. No... it was more of the thought that he even considered of leaving the guild....his family.... leaving me.

I raised my hand to slap him in the face, but he caught my wrist mid-way. He held my other wrist before I could even act
I reversed our positions and pinned him to the tree behind us.

"You don't know... how mad I am... at you... for saying that" I gritted my teeth at Gray

"Are you that desperate of forgetting about me?" I glared at him

"You'd be willing to leave all of your friends... your family " I raised my voice

I pinned him harder to the tree, the tree creaked and slightly uprooted

"Erza-" Gray's voice choked

"You'd go that far... What's more I'm furious at you for considering leaving Fairy Tail... just to avoid... seeing me" I interrupted. My voice now hoarse with anger

He was still silent

"If that's what you want.... then I give you my bles-" I was cut off

Gray reversed our positions, he held my wrists above my head as he pinned me to the tree

"What are yo-" He shut me up with a kiss

I kept resisting him, but I closed my eyes and eventually sank into the kiss and kissed him back

I can't imagine what would anyone think if someone saw us like this.

He loosened his grip on me and his hand went down to my shoulder onto my back. I wrapped my arms behind his nck and pushed the back of his head towards me, kissing him deeper.

His hands kept going down my back tracing my spine with fingers, by the time he traced over my tailbone, I jolted towards his waist. His hands now around on my waist, pulling me closer to him.

There wasn't a single space left between our bodies

GRAY'S POV

At first I only kissed her to shut her up. But she kept resisting, she eventually ceased and kissed me back and I got pulled along with her.

I was kissing Erza.
As my lips danced with hers, we held each other as tightly as possible.
I can't control my own thoughts. There was no sound except the sound of our lips sucking each other
I kept on losing my thoughts as Erza kept pushing back my head against hers

I managed to pull away from her only leaving a trail of saliva connecting our lips.
My senses were overloaded with her. The look on her eyes, the sound of her breathing, the way her skin felt, her scent, her taste.

"Will you... let me... finish?" I huffed

"...Okay..." Erza huffed back

I looked at her and she was flustered, she had a curious look in her face as to ask 'what just happened'.

"I only thought about it. Period. And I'm not leaving. I'm most certainly not leaving because of you" I regained

"What's the reason then? For thinking of leaving?" Erza asked

"I need to get stronger. To take down Deliora. It's my job to take him down. And in order to do so I need to do it alone so that I can protect everyone... Even if I need to sacrifice myself" I said

She didn't ask me any questions

"As for my reason for staying... It's you" I whispered as I hugged her

"I promised you I won't be leaving you, didn't I?"I said

"You left for three months" Erza rebutted

"I got side-tracked" I joked

"But I thought... You said you didn't love me anymore" she whispered

"You asked if you were still the love of my life. I answered I don't know because I was still full of doubts. But that doesn't mean I don't love you now" I said

Erza slowly pounded her fist on my chest

"Damn you... Why do you have to be...so cryptic with your words..." She cried as she pounded at my chest

"You should really be more honest with your feelings straight away so you don't hurt someone you care for." She said

After we embraced each other for a while. We sat down by the tree gazing at the stars.

"Hey Gray?" Erza asked

"Yes?" I responded

"What really happened to you during the last three months?" She asked

"Do you really want to know?" I asked back

"Yes" She confirmed

I held her hand as she held mine when I told her what happened during the last three months.
She just listened and never asked me any questions when I finished my story.
I asked her back what happened back at home in the last three months she just said nothing much.

We just spent the rest of the night talking to each other and we eventually fell asleep under the stars
