There's talking, I can faintly hear it, but I choose not to acknowledge the sound. I continue to look down at my food, picking at my sandwich, not actually eating it.

Jace is across from me, Eric beside me, and Braylee next to Jace. I wish my boyfriends best friend wasn't sitting so close to me, I wish he was at another table.

It was what he said in first hour that has me trying to distance myself from him. Not because I am uncomfortable, but because of the way I actually took in his words. The way I analyzed them and let them float around my head. The one word specifically I had digested, and it wasn't right.

I have been practicing Catholicism since I was a baby, and I had only heard the word a few times. I know what it is, that's not the problem, it's the way people use it. Sex is supposed to be with someone you love, and it's something the both of you experience once married. It's morality that effects it all.

For Jace to have used the act so openly, to suggest such a thing, it shouldn't have made me feel the way it did. Even when I didn't feel uncomfortable or offended, I should've. And that's why I've decided to distance myself completely from the man.

"Nina?" I jump slightly at the close proximity of Eric's voice and look over at him slowly.

"Hmm?" I lick my lips, trying my hardest to not let my eyes wander anywhere else.

"Are you feeling okay?" He asks, looking concerned. "You're not eating and you're cheeks are flushed."

Oh god.

I can't help it, I look over at Jace for a split second and I regret it immediately. He's leaning back in his chair, one arm placed on the back of Braylee's and a smug look on his face. He's talking to her, not noticing that I'm even staring. They seem to be in a very deep conversation.

A weird feeling enters my stomach, but it's not a bad one.

I have no clue what's happening with me.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine," I give him a closed lip smile to try and further my claim. He seems to buy it luckily, pressing a kiss to my head.

Against better judgment, my eyes raise to Jace's once more only to see that he's already staring.

"Brittni!" That's the first thing I hear when I walk into my house after a long day of school.

"Nikki!" My aunt mimics my mom. "Would you chill, it's just a vibrat-"

"Don't even say it," I hear my mom groan. "I don't need a freaking toy to please my-"

"Hey kids," my father walks down the steps with my uncle in tow, a smile on his face. "How was your day at school?"

Caleb rolls his eyes and heads up the steps while I'm left with the question. Which is pretty much the usual in this house every time Caleb gets grounded.

"It was the usual day at school, Dad," I smile with a weird look on my face as I notice my mom's wide eyes. "What?"

"How long were you standing there for?" She asks and I give her a strange look before walking towards my aunt.

"Hey, Auntie Brit," I smile and hug her. "Didn't know you were stopping by today?"

"It wasn't planned," she grins. "I just thought your mom would like the company while your dad was at work."

I nod in understanding and take a seat at the breakfast bar.

"If I would've known, I wouldn't've dropped Braylee off."
