Chapter 13

You'd assume Winnie was incapable of trying to mess with her idol/role model but she's actually a great partner in crime and no this didn't mean any establishments of friendship because she could just as well bail on me last minute making me look like a total fool.

After scheming and spending over an hour trying to convince Winnie that Abbie would never find out she finally left. I was also relieved that all the teachers assumed I was doing something useful for the editorial team since it would have been the newspaper's special edition that week because of a few upcoming events and as the chief editor it was my duty to feature everything but thankfully I had an awesome team that always managed to amaze me with their articles. Except for one that slipped past me which was very graphically and verbally detailed about 'How to avoid getting STD's'. Yep, that guy had potential but he basically trashed his ex girlfriend forcing me to remove him and his grudges along with him.

The power of breakups was a torrential thing indeed.

Without having to make up any excuses the teachers who caught me, cut me some slack. When really I was just roaming the halls and the quad taking mental notes of all the druggies secret hang out spots to smoke weed and joints. As tempting as it was to join I actually still cared about having healthy organs.

Surprise, surprise. Ryder was there shamefully puffing smoke in the air creating circles. All of his other friends were too stoned to notice if a tsunami came crashing down on the school. His gaze soon landed on me but I huddled behind the bleachers even though it didn't conceal me. His dimples poked through his cheeks when he held the cigarette between his lips as if he was inviting me to come up closer to relinquish my demons and release all my problems with an exhale of nicotine. From a far distance I may have appeared like a lurking stalker but I couldn't help but stare, infatuated by how carefree he seemed about everything around him. About life really.

When the group started becoming more rowdily active and a few girls were now glued to Ryder's side I left wanting to be any where else other than their.

And yes. I was pretty much having an epic failure of my life with this 'Shay the Wannabe Badass'. So far I had nipped an access key to the teachers lounge, attempting to trash it and left paintings on random walls of the school that were deserted. Oh! And it was washable paint so it was all good. See? I just couldn't help but think of the consequences in dangerous situations.

Finally lunch time rolled around literally pulling me out of my misery of idleness. Jay found me and we headed towards the cafeteria while I rubbed my hands together and let out my villainous laugh when we entered the building that was buzzing with chatter.

"Whatever you have planned Shayreece Taylor, leave me out of it," she stated bluntly heading straight towards the table holding her hands up in surrender. "No promises!" I hollered while cutting the line allowing everyone to give snarky comments as I pushed past them.

I wondered how Abbie was so accomplished at being evil because the amount of attitude and facial expressions I was receiving was enough to snap my neck.

Snatching a soda can out of a random boys hand that just rolled out of the machine I shot him a wink making him blush slightly. As awkward as that was for me to do I strutted waving and blowing kisses to the students who had nothing better to do than stare and whisper.

Reaching our table I decided to sit at the head grabbing a random chair with Jay beside me. The tables were all separated but were in the middle of the cafeteria on a high ramp. So much for equal rights.
