Tina's POV

Cheyenne sleeps in her room, and Jillian in hers. I can't beleive what happened outside the movie theater earlier- How had it even started? I don't understand- But I know what I am going to do now!

------------------------

"Mom?" I whisper into the darkness near Jillian's bed.

     "Tina?"

     "Yeah."

"What are you still doing up?"

"I couldn't sleep. The nightmares-" Jillain crawls out of bed and gives me a tissue for the incessently streaming tears on my cheeks.

"Sh, sh. It's ok now, honey." Jillian turns the radio on and starts to sing with the song. Eyes Open, by Taylor Swift. How ironic. I join in a line into the song.

    "Everybody's waiting

Everybody's watching

Even when you're sleeping

Keep your ey-eyes open

The tricky thing

Is yesterday we were just children

Playing soldiers

Just pretending

Dreaming dreams with happy endings

In backyards, winning battles with our wooden swords

But now we've stepped into a cruel world

Where everybody stands and keeps score

Keep your eyes open

Everybody's waiting for you to breakdown

Everybody's watching to see the fallout

Even when you're sleeping, sleeping

Keep your ey-eyes open

Keep your ey-eyes open

Keep your ey-eyes open

So here you are, two steps ahead and staying on guard

Every lesson forms a new scar

They never thought you'd make it this far

But turn around (turn around), oh they've surrounded you

It's a showdown (showdown) and nobody comes to save you now

But you've got something they don't

Yeah you've got something they don't

You've just gotta keep your eyes open

Everybody's waiting for you to breakdown

Everybody's watching to see the fallout

Even when you're sleeping, sleeping

Keep your ey-eyes open

Keep your ey-eyes open

Keep your ey-eyes

Keep your feet ready

Heartbeat steady

Keep your eyes open

Keep your aim locked

The night goes dark

Keep your eyes open"

I draw the short blade from my sweater pocket, as Jillian strokes my shoulders.

"Everybody's waiting for you to breakdown

Everybody's watching to see the fallout

Even when you're sleeping, sleeping

Everybody's waiting for you to breakdown

Everybody's watching to see the fallout

Even when you're sleeping, sleeping

Everybody's waiting for you to breakdown

Everybody's watching to see the fallout

Even when you're sleeping, sleeping

Keep your ey-eyes open

Keep your ey-eyes open

Keep your ey-eyes open

Keep your ey-eyes open

Keep your ey-eyes open"

I plunge the dagger into her abdomen on the very last syllible of the last line. With a gasp of pain from Jillian, I know the sting must have gotten her in a major organ. If I punctered her lungs, she won't have long now . . .

    "Tina . . . Why?"

"Everything you have ever done- me being an accident! You left us!"

"But- I was trying to be here for you now . . . You were no accident Tina. My carelessness might have caused you to come  before I could be responsible enought o properly take care of you."

    Oh my God . . .

"You are the best thing that ever happened to me-" and with that, my mom is silent.

"Mom? Mom-" I squek. I croak and choke on tears, real tears no. Not the fake ones I had tricked her with.

I move my fingers to her wrist. Nothing. Her warm flesh is already cooling-

"Cheyenne!" I scream at the top of my lungs. How- I had screwed up so badly-
