"Yo Boss, the new guy is here . . ." James said as he peeked from the door.

"Let him in." I muttered as I rearranged my stuff and took my reading glasses off.

"Right, just so you know, this guy is the best I can find and . . ." James hesitated. "He's my cousin." He smiled sheepishly at me.

I gave him a look, "I hope that isn't the reason why you picked him. He better be cut out for this job." I warned.

He nodded and left. I waited for a few minutes until the door opened and a brunette guy came in wearing a suit, he looks somewhat familiar. He sat down on the chair across from me and smiled.

"Good morning, I'm-"

I raised my hands up and stopped him, "Please hand me your résumé." I said in a monotonous voice, I can't exactly say that I've had a good night sleep yesterday. I noticed how he was staring at the bandages on my face and hand, ugh.

He looked a bit intimidated as he handed me his résumé, I started scanning through it. Well, I guess this guy is acceptable, he's got experience as well . . .

As I was reading through, I did a double take when I read his name.

'Johnson, Billy Cameron.'

I was taken by surprise, I looked at him and realized that he looked a LOT like the dork I had to put up with before. I read more of his information and everything matched the kid from long ago, even where he 'used' to live.

"Oh my God . . ." I facepalmed in annoyance, I looked up at him and saw him gave me a confused look.

"Umm . . . Is there something wrong?" He asked with a worried look.

"Oooh yes, there is definitely something wrong." My voice sounded a bit sarcastic as I said so. "Billy Johnson, I don't suppose you have a crazy mother . . .?" I gave him a fake smile, making my eye twitch.

"Uh . . . No?" He started getting weirded out.

"Oh . . ." I rolled my eyes, "How about a sister that died of cancer?" I grinned devilishly when his eyes grew wide at the unexpected question.

"I'm sorry, do I know you?" He asked, I can tell he's very nervous.

"Hmm . . . I'm just the kid your mom likes to beat up." I tapped the table in impatience, this guy is so clueless. He just gave me a weird look as if he doesn't understand what I was talking about at all!

"Does the name 'Marika' rings a bell to you?" I didn't bother to hide my displeasure towards him.

He nodded, "I know someone long ago with that name . . . Why?" He hesitated on asking.

"I'm Marika!" I raised my voice, how stupid can this guy be?

"Yeah, Marika Evans, I read your work on-" He started blabbing about my previous projects and how he liked them.

"No! Marika, the kid who was under the foster care of your insane mom!?"

He stared at me for a while, "No, it couldn't be. That girl is . . ." He grew quiet.

"That girl is what?" I urged him to finish what he's gonna say.

He sighed, "There's no way she can have a normal life like you." He looked a bit forlorn and pity was visible in his eyes. "What she's been through was just . . ." He gave another sigh as he shook his head.

"Hey! I'm 'her' and stop feeling sorry about me." I rubbed my temples, doesn't he believe me? "Marika Jones. Family was murdered, physically abused by your lunatic mom, hated your guts?" I stared and waited for him to respond.
