My gaze quickly fell on the bits and pieces of the wooden chair. I strode towards it and immediately found a single chair leg, still in one piece. I grabbed it and held it tight, not bothering to notice the pain from the sharp splinters covering it. Indignant, I took the fluorescent lamp from the ground and went back behind the door."Open the door!" I shouted, furious.
I threw the lamp across the room. The lamp broke into tiny pieces and shards of glasses flew from the impact as it hit the wall. The once flickering light from the lantern bursted into a huge flame as it spreads up to half of the room. Thankfully, it didn't reach me . . . yet."What was that sound!?" Liu banged a hand against the door.
"Open the door, Liu!" I yelled, my voice filled with anger as I firmly gripped the wooden chair leg.
There was a few second pause, among those seconds, the fire had already spread and reached the oil can which Liu left on the side of the room. Yet I was too fed up, so mad to even feel a single tinge of fear. All I know is that I either die here, or return to Jeff.
I prepared myself as I heard the door being unlocked. As soon as Liu came in the room, his attention was too caught up in the flames, it gave me the perfect chance. I grasped the chair leg with both hands and swung it, the end of the stick hitting the back of Liu's head.
There was a loud thump as the piece of wood violently struck his skull. Liu fell on the ground, the fire slowly closing in on us. I hurriedly ran into the other room and to the ladder. The ladder rattled against the wall as I climbed it as fast as I could. But before I could reach the top, my thoughts soon returned to Liu.
I glanced behind me to see Liu, still unconscious, the fire didn't die down, it wouldn't. And it would probably consume Liu.
I don't want that.
Without another second, I jumped back down on the ground and ran towards Liu. I don't know if it's possible but I have to at least try. I quickly held his arm and swung it around my shoulder. With all my strength, I pulled myself up to my feet, successfully carrying Liu.
I began coughing and coughing too much, the dark smoke which the fire created is starting to block my vision. I dragged Liu into the other room but found myself in a difficult situation. How am I supposed to carry him up there?
I paused and thought of a tactic before I shifted Liu behind me. Damn, he's heavy for someone as thin as him. I held Liu in a piggy-back sort of way and began climbing the stairs again with one hand supporting Liu and one hand on the ladder to keep myself from falling.
I didn't stop to look back when I reached the top and got out of that basement. I just walked-since Liu is making it hard for me to run-and headed out of the warehouse, I can see that it was starting to get bright out, maybe the sun is starting to rise, that's a good thing if I'm gonna go all the way home from here on foot.
Once I was a few feet away from the warehouse, I set Liu on the ground, my gaze lingered on him for a while. His head was bleeding bad, though I doubt I could do anything about it now. I ran to the direction of home. Hopefully, Liu would be okay. I know it's messed up to help him after knowing that he's with Jane, but . . . I just can't leave him to die in there.
Jeff . . . What could be happening to him?
。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。
I fell on my knees as I calm my breathing down, I'm almost there, I can already make the figure out of the house from afar. The good thing is that it was morning though dark clouds were covering the sky, giving me a bad feeling.
