❝ Nothing quite makes my heart ache like our almost. ❞
She looked down at the crumbled piece of paper, skimming through the list of her final 3 wishes.
1. Fall in love myself.
2. Watch two people fall in love.
3. To leave, smiling.

The next day, she decided to keep a low profile. She found it almost ludicrous how one day she had decided to show her true colours whilst the next to crawl back into her shell.
Either way, Alyssa's decision was the same. She had taken her car to school for the first time since its break down, leaving a brief note on the door of her house in case William knocked.
When he strolled through the school door, Alyssa walked as far away as possible. She scoffed to herself. He's probably thinking I'm bipolar or something. At least I'll be left alone again.
In her English lesson, she found herself day dreaming of a scenario when he'd follow her around, asking her what's wrong.
She was happy to keep it at a dream.
God, she'd be frigid as hell if it became a reality.
When she slipped into the dinner hall to buy a sandwich, Alyssa had well planned out what she would say if she were caught. She'd reversed it mentally so many times that she knew it of by heart.
But when she entered, her eyes locked on something that she found a lot more painful than anything. The boy with the dark hair was sitting beside another girl in the corner of the hall.
But the thing that hurt the most was how she wasn't one of the popular girls. She wasn't a mean person.
It was Brianna Cooper.
The little blonde who was tutoring him and currently blushing hard as William talked to her. It stung.
It stung knowing that she was that girl yesterday.
It stung knowing that she had thought that she was special.
It stung to see them laughing.
Alyssa knew that she had been staring too long and that one of them would notice however she couldn't tear her eyes away from them.
Alyssa was playing Russian Roulette with who's eyes would land on her first.
It landed on green.
Her breath caught as she looked down and spun in her heels. Again, she ran.
She heard footsteps behind her, encouraging her to move faster. This is pathetic she repeated again and again in her head, yet did nothing to act on it. Her mind went blank, and her mind froze.
She whipped her head around, only to find a group of Year 8's who started laughing after she turned. Her heart fell as she was coated in self-loathing.
The familiar feeling of embarrassment and bitterness towards her self returned. How could she have believed that he would bother following her? She was nothing.
Alyssa had been dreaming so much that she blurred reality with fantasy and could no longer tell the difference between the two.
