Brianna was going to kill him, William thought as he pulled his car into the parking lot before jumping out and sprinting. He loosened his tie, sorting out his messy hair. Impressions mattered.

He had gotten a whole storm of texts from her but had accidentally put his phone of mute.

They were from four hours ago. Plus another hour of traffic. "Fuck, I'm so screwed," he muttered, eyes scanning the boards at the top of the hospital.

His green eyes stopped as he read two words. Maternity Ward. That's it, right?

Rushing forward, he ran down the corridors mentally preparing himself for what was about to happen. He shrugged his shoulders, attempting to relax.
It's cool. It's no big deal.
His eyes widened as he realised what he was thinking.

Are you mad? This is a big deal and unless you go into her ward within two minutes, Brie's probably going to divorce you.

Laughing nervously to himself, he pushed open the double doors and asked the nurse which ward Mrs Brianna Harvey would be in. Following her instructions, he took a deep breath and strolled in.

William felt the breath being sucked out of his chest. There she was. There they were. He froze as her blue eyes lifted up towards him and her pink lips broke into a smile. The sound of her gentle voice woke him from his trance and he slowly walked towards them.

"Come look at her, she's beautiful," Brianna said, causing Will's heart to skip a beat.

She?

Speechless, he sat beside Brianna on the bed before slowing looking at the little bundle of pink in her arms. Words couldn't form in his mouth, leaving him watching her in shock. "She looks just like you," he heard Brianna say and it was very much true. The same shade of green that was in his eyes was also in hers, only his had a thin layer of water over the top. The full lips were also his apart from the dainty nose that clearly belonged to Brianna.

"C-Can I hold her?" He asked hesitantly, taking her from Brianna's arms.
She laughed which instantly calmed him down, "Of course you can! She's yours as much as she is mine."

William couldn't believe how light she was. So delicate. So beautiful. His daughter. His own. She blinked back at him with an equal amount of curiosity before reaching her tiny hand forward and wrapping it around his finger. William felt his heart melt, overcome with affection.

"That's your Daddy, Alyssa," Brianna said, in a ridiculous baby voice. He immediately caught onto the name.
"Alyssa." He repeated, his eyes threatening to spill tears. All of a sudden, their baby let out a cute little giggle.

A smile fell into his face as he remembered his first love. The tear finally rolled down his face, as he kissed Brianna lightly in the forehead.

William had learnt that Alyssa had purposely introduced Brianna to him knowing that her time was little. He shook his head to himself, the feeling of stupidness rising through him. She thought he wouldn't find out.

And although he had found out, it was far too late then.

Brianna was the best thing Alyssa could ever give him, apart from herself, which was of course impossible. And he was so so thankful to her.

He always would be.

She'd always hold a place in his heart that nobody else could fill.

"I love you," Brianna whispered, leaning her head against William's chest as he smiled, watching the newborn with love.
"I love you too, Brie."

William squeezed his eyes shut, a face flashing though his mind again. He knew Alyssa would be over the moon to find out that he had named his daughter after her, wherever she was right now. Besides, it was the only thing he could give her now. "Alyssa's perfect," he said with a grin.

"Alyssa's perfect," he said with a grin
