House: You Choose

Blood Status: You Choose

Warnings: Swearing

-----

You softly and slowly blink your eyes open, wincing at the small amount of light present in the dimly lit room. A shiver runs down your spine as your body and mind regain consciousness. It's cold in the room and the frigid floor seems to chill you to the bone. You sit up groggily and look around. The large, underground room has large, grey stone pillars, neatly placed every seven feet or so. A staircase behind bars leads up to a room above. Light shines through the bars and onto your face. You shuffle yourself up against a wall and rub your hands together, desperate to create heat. Suddenly, hushed voices can be heard from above.

"Go! Get her now! Bring her to the drawing room! Do not delay!" a voice hisses.

"Y-Yes!" a man squeaks. "Of course, Mr Malfoy!"

Footsteps echo down the staircase. You can hear heavy breathing and the rattle of the bars and the click of the unlocked door. A squat man scuffles in and the bars creak as he pushed them aside to stand directly in front of you. The man has extremely pale skin and he's blading. What's left of his hair are thin, stringy strands of greyness. Through the dimness, you can see his gross yellowed buck teeth. He lurches forward and grabs you by your arm tightly. You wince in pain and look up at him.

"You're coming with me, missy," he says, dragging you to a standing position, leading you up the staircases. You emerge from the cellar and up into a large, empty room with large, rectangular windows. He leads you down a hall, even dimmer than the cellar, and up a grand staircase into the drawing room. It's lit by a fire and has multiple darkly coloured furniture sets which include multiple couches and armchairs. In one of the chairs facing away from you, you see ahead of silky, platinum blonde hair. Draco. From the opposite side of the room, Lucius Malfoy enters, holding his head high. he looks at you condescendingly and clears his throat. Draco's head jerks sideways to look at his father.

"Well, well. If it isn't y/n. Finally woken up from your... nap I see...," he says menacingly. Draco stands up suddenly and turns around to face you. His gaze meets yours and he dashes to your side, ripping you from the rat-like man's grip. Swiftly, he grabs your waist and pulls you in tightly, having your head rest against his chest.

"Y/n...," he whispers, his voice shaking. "Thank God you're alive. I thought you weren't going to pull through... Babe, I'm so sorry. They wouldn't let me down there to take care of you... I-I... I just felt so powerless and I don't ever want to feel like I can't do anything for you ever again... Every night, I would be in my bed, wishing that I could go down to the cellar and carry you up to my bed so you could be next to me, not shivering down with no company or blankets... I'm so, so sorry, y/n. I promise that this'll never happen again."

You glance up at him. Sparkly tears are forming in his eyes. You can tell.

"Draco..." you whisper, pulling him into a gentle kiss on the lips. Your moment is suddenly broken when you hear a slow clapping noise from behind Draco. Lucius Malfoy.

"Well... This is lovely isn't it....," he drawls, much like Draco does. "A reunion of lovers..."

You glare at Draco's father. He had never been accepting of your family because your family name wasn't on the Sacred Twenty-Eight list. Those names on that list are and have always been the only people he would willingly allow Draco to marry, unfortunately.

"Father...," Draco starts with a warning tone, still gripping your waist.

"Ha!" a woman's voice shouts from the staircase. A woman cloaked in black with mangled, yellow teeth and frizzy, wild hair emerges slowly, her high heeled boots clicking on the stone flooring. She smiles and cackles again. "If it isn't you. I thought that you were going to die down there... Pity... I guess I'll just have to do it now!"

"Don't you dare touch her!" Draco shouts at the woman in black.

"Go on, Bellatrix," Lucius Malfoy says, gesturing forward. "Feel free."

With that, Bellatrix draws her wand and flicks it, sending Draco flying back towards the sitting area.

"Draco!" you shout as he hits the floor, hard. He grunts in pain. You turn around and face Bellatrix and draw your wand, pointing the tip straight at her.

"Oh ho! You're going to fight me are you, little girl?" she taunts. You lock your eyes on your opponent, watching her every move, waiting for one of you to make the first move.

"CRUCIO!" Bellatrix screams and you hurl yourself out of the way.

"Stupefy!" you shout. A ret bolt of light shoots out of the tip of your wand, but she's too quick. She blocks it, casting a shield in front of her. You get back up, breathing in and out heavily, filled with a burning rage to beat her to a pulp. You raise your wands again and the duel commences. Spells fly everywhere, hitting chairs, the walls, even the chandeliers and the organ on occasion. The sounds of cackling and laboured breathing resonate trout the walls, accompanying the cracks of spells. Beads of sweat form on your temple. You can't keep this up for much longer. You were the best dueler in your year, but Bellatrix was certainly stronger. You deflect a spell and nearly keel over, your vision becoming blurry from exertion.

"Oh, poor girl! You gonna give up, my little pretty?" she taunts. "Well... We've carried this out long enough. I should have killed you while you were still unconscious... Pity, it has to end this way... Draco will move on, though... He'll find worthier women. Worthy of his stature and his presence, unlike you piece of shit!"

Suddenly, you feel a warm hand wrap around yours from behind.  It pulls you back gently and you know it's Draco. You feel it tugging back harder, pulling you in a spiralling motion inwards. You apparate out of the room, leaving Lucius and Bellatrix in a partially destroyed drawing room.

~~~~~
You land with a soft thump and you hear the crack of sticks under your feet. You're in Draco's warm embrace again.
"Hey, y/n..." he says softly.
"Hey, Draco," you reply.
"I'm so sorry... I never meant for any of that to happen to you...."
"It's fine, Draco," you say reassuringly. "It was out of your control. I hold nothing against you..."
"Oh, God. How did I come to deserve a fantastic woman like you?"
"You must be doing something right, Draco, because I'm here right now... I'm not saying that all your choices are the best, especially one of the more recent ones like becoming a Death Eater..."
He sighs and looks down at the ground, ashamed. You sigh with him and give him a hug.
"What's done is done, Draco. You can't go back and change your choices. What you can do is move forward and make the most of what you've got," you say.
"Well, that'll be easy, y/n. I've got you," he whispers. You smile up at him and he pecks your cheek. "Let's go. y/n... We still have the trace. They'll come looking for us. We better move before they find us..."
"You're right Draco," you say, kissing him on the lips lovingly. He hisses back and pulls you in tight. When you finally separate, you continue into the forest, arm in arm, the place where you both belong.
