You sit on a wooden stool crosslegged in the corner of Flourish and Blotts, quietly thumbing through the pages of a wizarding encyclopedia.  You feel a gentle tap on one of your shoulders.  You look up slowly and meet a stranger's gaze.  His eyes are light grey and seem to shine brightly.  He's a tall thin boy with platinum blonde hair, wearing a dark cloak and a grey jumper.  He waves his hand slightly and you nervously return the gesture, completely and utterly taken by your beauty, which he did not at all expect.  His cheeks flush a pale, pale pink and he clears his throat awkwardly, trying to cover up his reaction.

"Pardon me," he says slightly uneasy.  "uh... but I must get by you.  I need to get a copy of one of those transfiguration books behind you."

He points to a row of dark teal books with gold stitching in the binding just below your shoulders.

"Oh!  I'm terribly sorry!" you say, standing up hastily, dragging your stool around and out of the way of his reach.  He leans over and casually takes a copy of the shelf, tossing it up in the air, giving you a small nod of the head.

"Thanks..." he says, meaning to add your name onto the end of his statement, but soon realising that he doesn't know your name.  "Ummm... sorry...  what's your name?" he asks shyly.  "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, of course..."

"No, no.  It's fine!  I'm y/n," you say.  "Y/n y/l/n."

He nods his head.  "A y/l/n.   It's an honour.  My mother admires the work your mother does and my father admires your father's work in the ministry.  My father praises yours all the time.  I must tell him I met their daughter today.  Oh!  I almost forgot!  My name is Draco.  Draco Malfoy."

"I'm very flattered, Draco.  Getting your book was no problem," you reply, smiling.

"So... uh, whatcha reading?" he asks, trying to take a peek at the cover.

"A wizarding encyclopedia.  It holds basic information of the wizarding world in all areas.  This is the newest edition.  It was only published about a week and a half ago," you explain. He nods.

"So you're a reader?" he inquires, pulling up another stool to side beside you.  You nod.

"Yeah.  My mom and my dad weren't around very much when I was little so I had to find an outlet to make the long days go by," you say, continuing to flip the various pages.  "They were always out either attending functions for various business partners, dinner parties, working late nights, and interviewing people.  All sorts of things.  They've always been and still are all over the place."

"I can relate," Draco says.  "... but only with my father.  He works at the ministry so he's also pretty in and out...  Ummm... So why haven't I seen you around much?  I can recognize all the people in my year at Hogwarts but your face doesn't ring a bell."

"Oh.  I don't go to Hogwarts.  I was born here and still live in England, but my parents are sending me to Ilvermorny in the United States.  I don't know why...," you explain.  He nods.

You both continue to talk for the next hour or two in the same spot. Your conversation ranged from school to books and literature and then to hobbies and Quidditch and as the conversation progressed, you both found out more and more with each other.  You shared the same interests, your move of Quidditch and your dislikes as well like your distaste when it comes to Divination class.  You found things to laugh about and smile about.  He was truly a nice guy with a very considerate, down to earth attitude.  You two just clicked.

"This is a bit weird..." you say, "but you're one of the only people who's actually held up a quality conversation with me.  Everyone else just gives up after ten minutes.  People at Ilvermorny just don't seem to wanna talk with me at all..."

"Well, they're crazy," Draco replies.  "You're awesome, from what I've heard over our time together."

"Awww. Thanks.  That's sweet, Draco," you reply.  "I wish we went to school together.  That would be so cool."

Draco nods his head in agreement.  "Yeah, y/n.  That'd be great.  i=It's not every day you meet an awesome person like yourself."

You blush a little bit and stare at the floor.  Draco laughs, noticing your slightly pinkish cheeks, which only makes you blush harder.

"Draco!"  A tall, blonde haired man calls from the shop's entrance, with a shorter blond-haired woman holding his arm firmly.  He waves at Draco, directing him to come over.  Draco sinks in his chair.

"Dang...  My parents are done with their Gringott's business...," he says, disappointed.  "I better go."

"Wait!" you say suddenly, pulling out a piece of parchment and a pen.  Draco stops in his tracks and turns to face you again.  You scribble on the parchment and fold it neatly.  You take his hand in yours and deposit the slip into it, closing his fingers around it.  "Take it, Draco.  It has my address in it for my home and at Ilvermorny.  Promise me you'll write please?"

You look into Draco's eyes.  You can see the happiness in them.  He nods slowly and ticks the paper into his pocket.

"I promise, y/n," he says.  "I can't wait to hear from you.  Maybe we can see each other during the holidays if we both come back home?"

You grin at him.

"Of course, Draco.  I wouldn't miss the chance to see you again."

He nods and turns around.

"It was wonderful meeting you, y/n.  I had so much fun," he calls back over his shoulder and he walks to his parents. "Keep a look out for my eagle owl!"

"I will!"

He gives you a back handed wave and you smile in his direction warmly and watch as he's reunited with his parents.

"Y/n," a low voice coming from behind you says.  You turn around and see your parents.

"Hello, father," you say.

"Let's go y/n," he says.  You get up and place the encyclopedia back on the display.  You hear the brass bell ring as you leave the shop, excited to get your first letter from Draco.
