First Person POV:

"Look at them."

"It's gross!"

"So unnatural!"

Draco and I sit together in the corner of the library. His hand is resting gently on my thigh. We've been sitting like this for about and hour now, listening to everyone whisper about us.

"Ignore them, princess," Draco says quietly, kissing me on my cheek. "They don't understand us."

I nod and return to my book. After a few more minutes of sitting, I look up and see Ginny and Luna, holding hands as always. I raise my hand and call them over eagerly, only to have my gesture returned with hesitant glances. Ginny eventually pulls Luna over to where Draco and I sit.

"Hi, Ginny! Hi, Luna!" I say cheerfully, trying to figure out if they're still my friends.

"Hey, y/n. Malfoy," Ginny says awkwardly. "So. You two, huh?"

I nod and rest my head on Draco's shoulder.

"Really, y/n?" she sighs. "Y'know. If you really didn't like Joanna that much you could have simply said 'I'm not interested' and left it at that. You didn't have to prove your point by ditching her and starting a fake relationship just to show her how much you don't want to be with her! Why did you have to be so harsh?"

"What do you mean?" I gasp.

"You can drop the act! You'll find a girlfriend eventually! Joanna just wasn't the one! We'll set you up with some else!" Ginny explains.

"It might take a few tries because everyone is scared of you now... but we'll make it work!" Luna adds on. I shake my head.

"No thanks. Really. I'm with Draco and I couldn't be happier!" I say, taking Draco's hand and giving it a small squeeze.

"So it's true then," Ginny sighs.

"You really are a hetero like everyone's been saying...," Luna says. They both turn away awkwardly. My heart sinks and then feels like it's been stabbed. I've been friends with those two for ages. How can we just continue on and pretend like we weren't? My breath starts to shake and I feel like crying. Draco pulls me into his arms and I rest my head into his chest. I snuggle into his embrace and close my eyes.

"It'll be okay, y/n. I know they're your best friends. They'll come back to their senses," he says soothingly. I smile into his chest.

"Thanks, Draco," I mumble softly. "I know I can always count on you."

~~~~~
After an hour more of studying, Draco and I decide to brave the halls of Hogwarts and leave the privacy of the library's corner. We walk out into the entrance hall to head to dinner, but were abruptly interrupted by an extremely distressed Harry Potter.
"Draco!" he gasps, very out of breath. "Please listen to me! I-I...."
"Harry... I told you yesterday. It's over. I'm sorry. I lead you on. It wasn't fair to you. I'm sorry that I've hurt you, but I wasn't being true to myself. It's over, Harry. You should go and move on. Find a boyfriend who will really return your feelings. It's what you deserve," Draco says.
