Over the next few days I spoke to Elena, Bonnie and Caroline, each of them apologising for not telling me about Elijah. I decided not to hold it against them, I had kept things from them too in all fairness. Yet, we agreed that no more secrets was a good way forward. Considering the difficulties ahead, we decided to plan a girls night at Elenas. A much needed girls night.

The four of us were sat at the counter in Elenas kitchen, laughing and discussing what food to get - pizza was the obvious choice.
"So, Grace..." Caroline started, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. "What's happening with you and Damon?" The other two girls glanced to me, leaning forward in curious anticipation.
"What do you mean? Nothings happening with me and Damon" I said innocently, scrolling through the pizza options on the tablet.
"Oh come on" Bonnie added teasingly, "I may not have my powers now, but even I know that's a lie" the other two girls laughed, causing me to roll my eyes with a smile.
"Dodge the question all you want, Grace" Elena piped in with a friendly nudge, "but you don't see those big puppy dog eyes he gives you when he thinks no ones looking".
"Now I know you're being ridiculous, Damon doesn't see me in that way... he just likes to flirt" I paused, shoving a chip in my mouth, "Are we ordering pizza or what?" I ask, passing the tablet along to Bonnie.

After a while, Jenna came downstairs and we all agreed to go and see the live band that was playing at The Grill. We all needed a good time after the past few weeks. I knew Jenna and Alaric were having difficulties, the reality of the supernatural world was always a tough secret to keep - Caroline was also going through the same with Matt. Bonnie had just lost her powers and Elena was at the centre of it all. She was the doppelgänger. The sacrifice. It was empowering however, to see these four so strong despite everything.

When we arrived at The Grill however, things took an awkward turn. Alaric arrived and Matt was working a shift. So much for a girls night... Despite this, when Caroline began singing on stage everything shifted. This was her confession to Matt. We smiled and cheered for her, she deserved it. Love was always a heartwarming sight to see, despite its bittersweet effects.

Later on, another unexpected turn occurred. My brothers warlock, Doctor Martin was here. Stefan phoned me in a panic - he was after Elena. This was bad. Before I could approach him however, he used his magic to smash the bottles of spirits and set the liquid alight. The crowd was rushing about, panicking and trying to escape as the warlock hunted for the doppelgänger.

"Doctor Martin!" I yelled, standing infront of him.
"You... you're Elijah's sister" he said as he recognised me.
"What's happened? Why are you doing this?" I yelled in desperation, my eyes stinging from the smoke.
"My son is dead" he said bitterly, "and now I have no hope of getting my daughter back from Klaus" he yelled in anger through gritted teeth.
"What do you mean? We can help you, we can work together!" I tried to reason. "Just don't hurt anyone, please!" I begged.
"Elijah is dead!" He screamed back, "your friends did that to him, and you did nothing... you may not understand what family means but I do" a pang of guilt shot through me then as anger burned up inside me. "That's why I have to take Elena to Klaus, for the sake of my daughter" he finished, turning back to the panicked mass of people who were still trying to escape.
"No!" I grabbed his arm, "I can help you! You know that I can!" I yelled in desperation. He turned back to face me, pain in his eyes as he considered it.
"If you're not willing to stand up against those who harm your family, your help is of no use to me".
"I won't help you hurt my friends" I said determinedly. "But there are other ways, you don't have to do this!"
"You cannot help me, I'm sorry". He muttered, a flash of disappointment overcame his face, before he held his hand up to my head, searing pain running through me as I screamed out in agony and dropped to my knees.

I could see him struggling to keep me down, he wasn't strong enough to subdue me, despite his anger and pain. I heard Bonnie yell his name, words drowning out over the noise, before he turned his power to her, causing her to drop to the floor unconscious. I went to her side immediately, ignoring the dull headache I had. By the time Bonnies eyes opened and I glanced back up again however, Doctor Martin was gone.

Some time later, all of us were back at Elenas house again. Surprisingly including Katerina. As much as I hated her, I couldn't help but admit that her skill at impersonating Elena was proving to be incredibly useful in difficult situations. Doctor Martin was now dead. I couldn't help but feel guilty for this... he only wanted his family back together, yet his lack of trust ensured that he lost it completely.

By the time I arrived back at The Boarding House, I was exhausted. I was just headed upstairs, ready to clamber into bed when I overheard a conversation.
"Katherine, there are six other bedrooms in this house" I heard Damon whisper, I frowned slightly as I paused on the landing. "Go find one". My eyebrows raised in surprise, was Damon... rejecting her?
"Is this because of Grace?" Katherine asked, her tone suddenly bitter. I froze and looked to the ground, before continuing on to my room. I heard her scoff at Damon's silence as she got up to leave however, and I bumped into her on the landing.

"He's all yours" Katherine said upon seeing the amused look on my face, causing me to snort in response.
"That's where your wrong, Katerina, I don't own him", I paused and shook my head as she frowned at me. "And that's fine... because I'm not a manipulative bitch like you" I smiled and turned to leave, just wanting to be in bed.

"Hate me all you want, Grace... you know I'm right" she said, causing me to turn back around to face her. "And would it make a difference if I said I was sorry for what I did to you?" I squinted at her curiously, before heading into my room. Katerina Petrova was someone whose words I had learnt not to trust a long time ago.
"Not even if you meant it" I muttered bitterly, before shutting the door in her face.
