Hermione's POV
Hermione didn't break the rules. She could get expelled; that's worse than being murdered.
But she recognized the necessity this time. She knew something way way off; the drugs that made them forget, the huge part of their history that was missing.
So that's why she was standing in the common room impatiently, in the middle of the night, ready to sneak out to the library where she could potentially get suspended.
"Harry!" She hissed at a shadow. Harry popped out, looking sheepish.
"We were trying to scare you," Draco explained, coming out after him.
Hermione sighed. "Cloak?"
Harry held it up. "But all of us might not fit under it. Draco and I can, and maybe someone skinny, but - "
"Hold on. Did you call me fat?" Hermione asked, pretending to be insulted.
"No! No, no, no. I meant like a stick, or a twig, would fit, or a - " Harry blushed, fumbling for the right words.
Hermione giggled grabbing the Cloak and putting it on. "I was joking. I think we can fit."
Draco shrugged and squeezed under the cloak. Harry fumbled around, trying to find space.
Draco casually put his hands around Hermione. "More space for Harry," he explained lightly.
"Thanks," Harry's voice sounded slightly off.
"Okay, let's go," Hermione whispered, slightly breathless and very aware of Draco's arms around her.
They crept out of the common room, pausing at the slightest sound. There were many curses and 'Merlins!' as they tried not to be loud and still walk without bumping into each other.
"Finally!" Hermione sighed, throwing the cloak at Harry. She examined the library.
The Restricted Section was dark and musty, and very uninviting. A strange smell of something that smelled like cupcakes rotting was in the air. Hermione held her breath and whispered a simple unlocking spell.
"Well?" She asked, gesturing at the unlit alcove. "Go in." She marched in, trying to ignore the weird smell.
Draco and Harry followed her in, glancing around for a likely looking book.
"Here?" Hermione shoved a tiny book at them. It read Classified: Do Not Read. Consequence: Deat - Tortu - Azkaba - Amnes - Expulsion.
"Seems like our book," Draco joked, trying to ease the tension. "Let's open it."
Hermione slapped his hand away. "It might be cursed! Or - or, something!"
Harry reached out and took the book. "Probably nothing. Can't be that - AH!"
He was flung back against a bookcase.
"Shh!" Hermione scolded, instead of helping him up.
"'Probably nothing'," Draco imitated, grinning. Harry glared at them, getting up awkwardly.
"Well, uncurse it or something!" He demanded, trying to retain some of his dignity.
Hermione frowned. "I can try. Non maledices."
The book quivered and shone with a pink light for a second. Hermione nervously opened it.
"It didn't kill you. That's good," Draco noted, reading over her shoulder.
"Oh, Merlin," Hermione whispered, trying not to throw up. "They've been hiding this from us? For so long?"
Harry, impatient, grabbed the book and started to read. "My parents...?" He asked, obviously shocked.
