Chapter 41 - Tell Her About Him

Richard's POV

It was already a few minutes after I hang my phone from a conversation with my Dad. He reminded me on the dinner that Lola will be preparing and as a member of the family Maine is tasked to assist Lola in preparing the said dinner.

Unlike when Dad was discussing about this with me the first time, I am more comfortable now with the huge possibility of Maine meeting Patrick again. When Maine told me about having no special feelings with her ex anymore, I immediately believe in her. How Patrick will take the instance will be a different story. For now, I have to tell Maine the truth about Patrick being the representative of one of our Company's valued client. Mas mabuti nang sa akin na manggaling kesa malaman pa nya sa iba. But how shall I do that?

"Are you free tomorrow?" I asked her while both our eyes are glued on the TV program that we are watching in the family room

"Sa supplier lang after I bring Celestine sa school then balik na ako agad to get her" she replied

"Dad called and he is requesting you to help Lola to prepare a simple dinner for our new clients. They are flying into Manila three days from now" I said

"Ok lang naman, I would love to help her, sa bahay ba nila yung dinner?" she asked

"Most probably no, masyadong malayo ang Laguna for the guests to travel from their hotel in Makati" I replied

"What would you suggest?" she asked

"Maybe just scout a small private place where we could have the dinner" I said

"Ok, discuss ko na lang kay Lola. Ilan ba ang mga guests?" she asked

"I think mga less than ten sila" I replied

"Is it alright if I ask suggestion from Rizza? Mas kabisado nya ang mga event places dito sa Manila" she said

"Of course you may ask her about that" I replied

"Alright, I'll call her tomorrow" she said

"By the way, not all of them are foreigners, there are few Filipino key officers who will be joining us on that dinner" I said

"Joining us? Bakit us? Bakit kasama ako, di ba company affair yun?" she asked

"Dad wanted them to meet the whole family, kaya nga lahat tayo gusto nya involve. This will be your first family affair as Faulkerson, Meng. But I understand if you'll beg off, hindi kita pipilitin, ako na lang ang bahalang mag-explain kay Dad" I said

"Ok lang naman, sabi mo nga simple dinner lang naman" she said

"Thank you Meng, actually there is another event coming up two days after the dinner. Dad wanted us also to be in the contract signing event" I said

"What, kailangan pa ba talagang nandun ako? Wala naman akong kilala dun eh" she said

"Wala namang ipinagkaiba yun nung kasal natin eh, hindi mo rin kilala most of the guests. Dad also invited Tatay Teddy and Nanay Mary. Maybe that information would help you decide, pero I promise, hindi kita pipilitin kung ayaw mong sumama." I said and I gathered first more strength before I tell her about one of our guest.  "Also, there is one thing that you need to know" I

"Ano na naman yun, patapos na ang araw Faulkerson, Jr. pero ang dami mo pang pasabog ha" she said

"Patrick Ledesma will be one of those who will be joining us for dinner as well as in the contract signing. So I guess, nag intervene na ang universe at ito na ang sagot sa tanong mo kung dapat bang magkita pa kayo o hindi na" I told her. She did not say anything, instead she looks straight in my eyes. "But like what I have said, desisyon mo pa rin if you wanted to go to both occasions or not, just tell me at once para makaisip tayo ng pwedeng idahilan kay Daddy" I said
