Richard's POV
As expected I was not able to convince Meng to skip the dinner. First of all, she already informed my Dad that she decided to attend therefore there is no way for me to insist that she’ll just stay home with Celestine. I was too complacent that she will never change her mind, but I was wrong. Now, my paranoia comes back because of my huge anticipation on my wife’s meeting with her ex-boyfriend tonight.
“Are you ready to go? According to Rizza they are on their way to Royalties. We have to leave now, baka maunahan pa tayo ng mga guest natin sa venue, nakakahiya” My Dad asked
“Kasama ba nila si Meng?” I asked
“Yes, as planned” my Dad replied. “I can sense anxiety in you, dahil ba ‘to sa pagkikita ni Meng at Patrick tonight? Don’t you trust her?” he asked
“It is easy to say na wala na talaga kung matagal nang hindi nagkikita, because she is already used of not having him around. But we’ll never know kung anong mararamdaman nya once they see each other again” I said
“Bakit may ganyang pakiramdam ka ba when you bump in with Ellie again? I still remember how sad you where when you find out about her infidelity” Daddy said
“Our story is different from theirs Dad. Meng chooses to betray her bestfriend because of her love for Patrick. Yung sa amin ni Ellie wala na talaga at kahit wala si Maine, I will never go back to her” I said
“I understand the feeling son but for me, you are worrying too much, can we just trust your wife and enjoy ourselves tonight? Meng will not change her mind if she is not certain of her feelings with Patrick” Daddy asked
“Eh kasi nga hindi pa sila nagkikita ulit” I insisted
“Eh kasi nga ang kulit mo rin. You still have time to miss the dinner, ako na lang ang bahala kay Meng” Daddy said
“No way Dad, hindi mo mababantayan ang asawa ko kapag napalibutan na kayo ni Lolo ng mga business correspondence nyo” I said
“Let’s go then, mas gusto kong tayo ang maunang dumating sa Royalties kesa sa kanila” Dad said. As I drive from our office to the hotel my paranoia soars high. My dad and I arrived ahead of everyone. Rizza texted me and said that they are already within the vicinity and they will arrive within five minutes in Royalties Hotel so I choose to wait for them at the lobby.
“Hello Richard” Ellie greeted me when I met her at the lobby
“Hi Ellie” I greeted back
“Waiting for the guests?” she asked
“Nope I am waiting for my wife” I replied
“I thought she is not coming?” Ellie said
“She changed her mind” I replied
“Bakit, threaten sya na baka agawin kita sa kanya? Selosa pala si Maine, she’s so pathetic” Ellie said and it does get into my nerve
“My wife is not pathetic and most of all she is not threaten. Even if you try Ellie, hindi ako magpapaagaw because I only belongs to my wife. She is not jealous because she knows that there is nothing to be jealous about” I straightly uttered
“Hey, relax Richard, nagbibiro lang ako” Ellie said and wraps her arms around my arms “Let’s just wait for them sa Prince Hall. Magkwentuhan muna tayo sandali while we are waiting for them” she said
