Maine's POV
As agreed, RJ did not wake me up to say his goodbye going to Bangkok. I like it that way, at least hindi ko maiisip na matagal syang mawawala because I did not get to see him leaves with his travelling bag. Today is the first day of the four days I really hope that Celestine and I survive those days without Faulkerson, Jr.
As I checked on my phone I saw several message from RJ such as "Airport na, 'love you Mrs. Faulkerson, Jr.", another one at around 6am "Boarding time, take care of yourself Mommy Menggay" then a few minutes after "Time to take off, need to swtich my phone to flight mode. I miss you Mendoza Girl". Those are brief messages but definitely priceless.
I am about to do my morning rituals when my phone suddenly vibrates. I can't help but widely smile as I saw RJ's name flashing on the screen.
"Good morning Faulkerson, Jr" I cheerfully greeted
"Touchdown just now and I am really missing you, Mendoza Girl" RJ sadly said
"I miss you too, but this does not mean that you'll take the next flight back in Manila right?" I asked
"Not a bad idea Menggay" RJ replied
"Oyyyy, wag ganun, nandyan ka na rin lang naman, gawin mo na ang mga dapat mong gawin para matapos na so you could come home really quick" I said
"Anong pasalubong ang gusto mo?" RJ asked
"Ikaw" I quickly replied
"Grabe naman, katawan ko lang talaga ang habol mo sa akin" RJ teases
"Sira ka, ang ibig kong sabihin, ikaw na ang bahala kung ano ang gusto mong pasalubong. Pero mas ok rin naman kung katawan mo" I said giggling
"I knew it" he said and I heard me laughing out loud. "I miss you Faulkerson, Jr, please hurry home" I suddenly uttered and for a while I only heard heavy breathing from the other line
"Yes my love, I promise to be home really quick. Please take care of yourself as well as the baby. If there is a need for you and Celestine to go to Bulacan, it's fine with me. Or better invite Nanay and Tatay to stay with you guys while I'm gone please do so" he said
"I promise to be fine, Faulkerson, Jr., we'll just visit Lola Linda and Lolo Danny more oftern" I said
"Great, I'm sure they will be very delighted" RJ replied. "Nandito na yung hotel service, can you stay with me on the line while I am on my way to the hotel?" he asked
"Hala sya ang mahal ng telephone bill malamang" I said
"It's alright, company phone ang gamit ko, therefore sa FCC naka-charge ang call na 'to" he said
"Grabe baka umusok ang telepono, pwede bang maghilamos muna ako? Kakagising ko lang when you called" I complained
"Alright, I'll just call you as soon as I reach the hotel" RJ said
"Call me later, magpahinga ka na lang muna, hindi ka masyadong nakatulog" I replied
"Ok, I love you, Mendoza Girl" he said
"I love you too Faulkerson, Jr." I replied then he hangs up. This is it, it sinks in only now that today is the first day without our man of the house.
During regular days, it was RJ who brings Celestine to school and I was the one who pick her up. Now that RJ is on a out of the country trip, I need to do both assignments. I just came out of the bathroom when I heard Celestine knocking at my door
"Daddy, wake up po please, Mommy, it's breakfast time" Celestine said. Didn't RJ told her about his trip? Why is she looking for him
"Baby, what do you need from Daddy? Come inside" I asked as soon as opened the door
"I'll be late for school, you and daddy haven't had breakfast yet" Celestine said
"Didn't Daddy told you that he'll be out of the country for four days starting today?" I asked
"Ngayon na?" she asked
"Yes baby ngayon na?" I replied
"But he said he will try to cancel it" Celestine said
"And obviously, he was not able to it" I said
"Who will bring me to school then?" Celestine asked
"I will, I'll drive for you then I will also wait until the end of your class. How about that?" I asked Celestine. I saw her eyes gleams after she hears what I said but it went gloomy after a while
"But Daddy said that you should not drive because it might hurt the baby" Celestine said
"Don't worry baby, Mommy will make sure that I won't hurt the baby" I said
"Ok" she doubtly said
"Don't you trust me baby?" I asked
"But Daddy might get mad" she said
"Yes he will if he learns about it. That will be our little secret, ok ba yun baby?" I said
"Ok po" Celestine replied nodding
"Very good baby" I said when we heard my phone rang. I rolled my eyes when I saw RJ's name flashes on my phone screen. Pambihira sinabi nang mamaya na tumawag eh "Hello Love" I said
"Nasa hotel na 'ko" RJ said
"Obviously, sabi mo di ba tatawag ka once you reach the hotel and I remember that I told you to rest first before you call me" I said
"I just called to say I love you before I take a short nap" RJ replied. I smiled because I find that gesture so sweet
"I love you too Faulkerson, Jr., magpahinga ka na muna" I said
"Mommy, I want to talk to daddy please" Celestine said while pulling my arm to get the phone from me
"Wait lang baby" I said
"Put the phone in speaker mode, I want to talk to Celestine too. Hindi ako nakapagpaalam sa kanya kanina kasi tulog na pa nung umalis ako" RJ said so I had no choice but to put the phone in speaker mode.
"Hello Daddy, where are you?" Celestine excitedly said
"I'm in Bangkok baby but I promise to be home soon" RJ replied. "What are you doing?" RJ asked
"Getting ready for school" Celestine said "Mommy will bring me to school Daddy"
"Yeah, I already called Lola Linda, their driver will drive for you and Mommy while I am here in Bangkok" RJ said
"Pambihira ka naman, inabala mo pa pati sila Lola, but thank you Love, hintayin na lang namin yung driver" I said
"But Mommy, you said you'll be the one to drive" Celestine abruptly said and my eyes widens on what she just said
"What did you just said Celestine?" RJ asked
"Mommy will bring me to school, she said she will drive me to school" Celestine uttered
"What?" RJ exclaimed
