Richard's POV
The though that Maine will undergo another ultra sound does not give me a good sleep that night because if there is nothing to worry about how come Dra. Sanchez prefers to talk to me instead of telling straight to Lola Linda why she wanted Maine to have another ultra sound. I am worried but I don't want Maine to see how bothered I am with that untimely ultrasound. The only thing I need to do is pray that nothing serious is happening to our baby.
At around nine in the morning, the hospital staff came in to assist Maine in the ultrasound room.
"Bakit nakawheelchair pa ako?" Maine asked "Same floor lang naman ang ultrasound room, I can walk going there"
"Bilin po kasi ni Dra. Sanchez, wag kayong masyadong pakilusin" the hospital staff replied.
My fright soars high upon hearing that statement. Dra. Sanchez is already waiting for us when we get into the ultrasound room.
"Good morning Mommy Maine" she cheerfully greeted
"Good morning Dra. Sanchez" Maine greeted back
"Are you ready for your ultrasound?" she asked
"Yes po Dra" Maine replied. "Pero bakit po mag ultrasound ulit Dra. may problema po ba sa baby namin?" my wife bravely asked the question that I could not asked
"I just wanted to make sure of my hunch, may sinabi kasi si Dr. Cortez yesterday" Dra. Sanchez replied
"Anong sinabi ni Dr. Cortez" I asked
"Later RJ, kapag sigurado na ako" Dra. Sanchez replied. I could not breathe due to too much anticipation while Dra. Sanchez is preparing for the ultrasound. As she performs it, Dra. Sanchez adjusted the volume and we again hear the baby's heartbeat
"Did you hear that? Do you remember when you first heard the baby's heartbeat?" Dra. Sanchez asked
"Yes po Dra. but based on what I am hearing now, parang hindi pareho when we first heard it. Yung una po Dra malakas at mabilis yung heartbeat, pero ngayon po, parang may time na biglang nag-iiba" Maine said and I agree with her
"My hunch is correct and I apologized to you Maine and RJ because I overlooked this important detail. Please don't get mad at me" Dra. Sanchez said and Maine held my hand tighly
"Ano po ba ang nangyayari? Kamusta po ang baby namin" I asked
"Yung malakas at mabilis na heartbeat that a sign na healthy baby nyo" Dra. Sanchez said
"Eh bakit po, parang may time na biglang nag-iiba yung heartbeat?" Maine asked
"Maybe that's the time na hindi sabay yung heartbeat nila" Dra Sanchez said beaming
"Dra. hindi ko po maintindihan, ano pong hindi sabay yung heartbeat nila?" maine asked
"There is another baby" Dra. Sanchez replied
"Another baby?" I asked
"Yes another baby, you are having twins Maine" Dra. exclaimed
"Seryoso po Dra., twins yung baby na nasa tyan ko?" Maine asked
"Now I am very certain, kaya nga nagrequest ako to perform another ultra sound kasi sabi ni Dr. Cortez parang dalawang heartbeat yung naririnig nya" Dra. Sanchez explained "Again, I apologized because I was not able to see this immediately, sabay na sabay kasi yung hearbeat nila when we first perform the ultrasound, parehong nagpapakitang gilas kay Mommy at Daddy eh" Dra. Sanchez added
"Narinig mo yun Love, twins ang anak natin" Maine said and I nodded. I could not speak upon hearing this great news, yung isa nga lang sobra-sobrang happiness na ang ibinigay sa amin ni Maine, what more kung dalawa pa.
"I need more of your cooperation Maine, sobra-sobrang ingat ang dapat nating gawin kasi dalawang baby ang dala-dala mo. I suggest a complete bed rest for you para sigurado" Dra Sanchez said
"Tatandaan po namin Dra. Thank you very much po" Maine said
"Mukhang hindi makapaniwala si Daddy RJ ah" Dra. Sanchez teases
"I am just overwhelmed Dra., kasi last night when I learned that you requested Maine to undergo another ultrasound, medyo nag-worry ako. I thought something bad happened to the baby" I said
"I wanted to make sure first kasi, before I break the good news, ayoko namang paasahin kayo because even Dr. Cortez is not sure if he hears two heartbeats" Dra. Sanchez replied
"When do we know the gender of the babies?" I asked
"Let's wait for another four to six weeks" Dra. Sanchez replied
"Kaya pala sobrang hirap ako nung first trimester ko, dalawang babies pala ang nasa tyan ko" Maine said beaming widely
"Can Maine be discharged Dra.?" I asked
"Of course, now that we are certain na ok yung mga babies, papayagan ko na kayong makauwi. Oh Maine ha, mas dobleng ingat ang dapat ngayon" Dra. Sanchez again said
"Yes po Dra." Maine replied
The family is complete as we came back in our room. I can see worry in their faces as Maine was carefully assisted by the hospital staff.
"Anong nangyari RJ? Kamusta ang baby?" Nanay Mary worriedly asked
"May problema ba tayo RJ, should we transfer sa mas malaking hospital para masiguro na ok yung baby at si Maine?" my Dad asked
"Sabi ni Dra. Sanchez, Maine needs to be more careful, she was advised to have a complete bed rest from now" I said
"What happen to the baby RJ?" Lolo Danny firmly asked
"Nothing Lolo, the babies are fine" I replied
"Ano sabi mo Kuya, ulitin mo nga" Rizza said
"I said, there is nothing wrong with the babies, they are fine according to Dra. Sanchez" I replied beaming
"Babies? Are you having twins ate Maine?" Rizza again asked while the folks are all excited to hear our confirmation
"Yes Rizza, we are having twins" I replied bragging
"Wow congratulations apo" Lola Linda said
Tatay Teddy taps my shoulder with a huge grin and said "Ang galing mo ah"
"What do you mean twins Daddy? Am I having a baby brother and a baby sister?" Celestine asked
"We are not yet sure baby, if you are having two sisters or two brothers or a brother and a sister. Let's pray for the latter" I replied
"Wow, I am having two siblings" Celestine excitedly said
"Are you happy to have two babies Ate Celestine?" Maine asked
"What do you want to have Ate Celestine? Baby brothers or baby sisters?" Daddy Ricky asked
"Two baby sisters will be fun Lolo Ricky" Celestine replied while Maine and I quickly exclaimed "NO!!!!!"
