Herobrine's POV

When I wake up, it takes my mind a second to process where I am. When I do, I'm instantly on my feet. A large cube, made entirely of coding. I'm in the center of it, and besides me, it's empty. It's freezing in here.

I summon a red jacket, slipping it on. With the cold no longer distracting me, I look at the coding, and somehow I understand it. It’s saying the same thing, over and over.

Removed.

I don't have to be a genius, I realize pretty quickly how to get out. I need to change the coding. Unfortunately, I don't know a thing about the stuff, so I'll have to learn through trial and error. This is gonna suck!

(Time skip)

Try to break out of the code, get frustrated, give up. Work on improving my magic until I tire myself out, then sleep. Wake up, repeat.

That was my routine for what felt like an eternity, who knows how long I was trapped like that? Three, probably. He's weird and specific like that sometimes, could probably tell me how long I was gone down to the last second.

However, one day, something finally changed. I was on the verge of giving up again, then suddenly the coding disappeared.

I'm shocked, I didn't expect to succeed. However, I'm not in the coding anymore, not in Minecraft, either. There’s only one world I know of besides Minecraft, and that's Notch’s world. I'm in reality, I've wanted to see this place for so long, but I couldn't. Not before now, at least.

I look around. I'm in what seems to be a very large village, with extremely large buildings. It seems to be night as well, it's hard to tell, because it's raining.

As I stand there, unsure of what to do, a loud noise tears me from my thoughts. A loud bang, like fireworks going off, followed by a scream. The bang doesn't bother me, but the scream does. I don't even think, I run towards the sound.

There’s two men and one woman. One man is on the ground, bleeding badly from his lower abdomen. The other man is pointing something at the woman, who is putting pressure over the wound, trying to stop the bleeding.

"I'm not telling you again." The second man growls. "All of your money. Now." The woman looks up at him with tears in her eyes, she looks terrified.

"I-I told you." She stutters. "I don't have any. Please, leave us alone."

"And I told you!" He snaps. "I'm not falling for it! You have ten seconds before I shoot you, then you and your brother can both rot in this alley." So he's going to kill them both? For what, so he can loot them? And he's willing to force that poor girl to watch her brother die...

I have the man pinned to a wall in the blink of an eye. He lifts the object he had pointed at the woman, but I snatch it from him, then bare my teeth in a snarl. The man puts his hands up in surrender, fear in his eyes.

"Don't you ever do this again!" I snap. "I will hunt you down!" With that, I let the man go. He bolts, not looking back once.

"Thank you." The woman says gratefully. I glance back at her, nodding.

"Are you ok?" I ask.

"I'm fine." She answers. "But my brother's been shot. I need to get help, can you watch him?"

"Of course." I respond without hesitiation. She gives me a quick smile, then pulls out a small, rectangular object. She flips it open, then presses some small buttons. She begins talking into it, meanwhile I put pressure over the wound. When she's done, she sighs.

"Thank you." She says. "Because of you, my brother might survive this."

"It's not fair to lose family because of someone else's selfish actions." I reply. "There’s no need to thank me."

"There is absolutely need to thank you!" She exclaims. "That man had had a gun, you could have been hurt! You could've walked away, but instead chose to help! Most people would've pretended they didn't see us!"

"Humanity is messed up, then." I growl. She chuckles a bit.

"Yeah." She agrees. "So, what's your name?"

"Brian." I answer.

"Well, Brian," She says. "I'm (M/n)."

"I'd shake your hand, but I'm busy right now." I respond. "Plus, my hand is kind of covered in blood." She laughs.

"Let’s wait on the handshake." She agrees.

(Time skip)

After help for (M/n)'s brother arrives and takes him away, I offer to walk her home. Her luck doesn't seem that great tonight, and I'm not gonna risk someone else hurting her. When we reach her place, she invites me in.

"I'm fine, thanks." I decline politely.

"Come in." She insists. "Get cleaned up, you can stay for the night."

"You're sure you don't mind?" I ask. She nods.

"You saved mine and my brother's lives." She laughs. "I think it's ok if you stay for one night."

"I'm glad I helped." I respond. "I guess I can stay, if you're sure you don't mind."

"I'm sure." She confirms, holding the door to let me in.
