   SCOTT'S POV

As I was about to leave to pick up Cassie from school, I saw a woman spraying an anthill with a water hose and she had a phone up to her ear. It looked like she was having a conversation with someone, but she had no respect for the ants she was killing right this second.

I did not have long to pick up Cassie, but I had to try something to get the woman to stop. I called out to her, and she looked over at me.

She held the phone away from her ear and yelled,"YES???"

I laughed it off and motioned towards the anthill saying,"I think you're being a little harsh. You're killing all those ants. They deserve better than what you are doing."

She laughed and walked over closer to where I was standing.

She said,"Oh, I'm not laughing at anything really.  Just some guy who thinks ants are important."

I looked at her hurt, and she talked to whoever she was talking to for a little while longer and hung up.

She said,"Listen. I have been having a pretty frustrating week with ants, and I am sick and tired of dealing with this. Do you have some plan that is going to get rid of them? If you do, then I will be happy to stop killing them."

When I realized she was serious, I got an idea and said,"How about you show me where the ants are coming from, and I can figure out how to stop them from coming into your house?"

She pondered my idea and pointed at me saying,"Okay, but do not get any ideas. I can still take you down, if you are planning something disgusting. I know how to fight."

I held up my hands, and she let me see where the ants were coming from. It did not take long, but I did figure out how to stop the ants from going inside her house.

She thanked me, and I said,"Wait, I never got your name."

She smiled at me and said,"I am not going to let you have my name that easily. Maybe next time."

I smiled back at her a little, and she walked back inside her house. I immediately jumped in the car and picked up Cassie, before I brought her back to her mom's place. The woman from earlier was out on her porch and waved at me. I looked behind me and back at her, before I waved back at her.

Cassie's mom was making dinner, and I asked her,"Who's that woman next door?"

She said,"That is Y/N. She's actually a flight attendant. Scott, she has been to some pretty amazing places. Cassie spends time with her and helps her pick her apple tree outback. She's nice. Why do you ask?"

  I said,"No reason. She...uh...waved at me."

She nodded, and I headed upstairs to get Cassie for dinner.

    A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER...

Y/N and I had gotten much closer, and she spent most of our time together telling me about the many places she has been to. I could tell she had a love for going to new places. It made me smile.

  I asked her,"Y/N, would you...I don't know...want to go on a date with me?"

Y/N got up and walked out to her apple tree.

She began to pick some and said,"Of course, Scott. What took you so long to ask me?"

She gently nudged me, and I blushed in embarrassment.

I cleared my throat, and she laughed saying,"I am just kidding, but I am really happy you asked me that, Scott. I have not been on a date in a long time."

I smiled sweetly at her and said,"Neither have I."
