*warning: this may or may not be a feels ride.

The sound of the harp alerted Izuminokami instantly. A huge gush of nostalgia overwhelmed him, causing tears to brim his eyes.

On instinct, Izuminokami jogged towards the front porch, where the sound of the harp was travelling from. A slight pang of disappointment hit him as the one seated by the harp was not the one he was expecting but he inched his way towards the player of the harp anyway.

Horikawa stopped plucking the strings when he noticed Izuminokami heading towards him. Out of courtesy, he greeted,"Kane-san!"

"Kunihiro." Izuminokami spoke as his eyes went over to the gigantic instrument next to them.

"Master taught me how to play when she was around," Horikawa smiled. "I really do miss her..."

Izuminokami kept his silence. Millions of memories came pouring into his mind and he started to get emotional all over again upon the thought which came to mind.

Flashbacks of the days he spent with his master came to him. The memories dated all the way back to when he first arrived at the citadel, one of the many memories he could never forget...

The new sword made his arrival in the unfamiliar citadel. Upon seeing him for the first time, Saniwa's words and expression didn't match at all.

"Wow! So you're the famous Izuminokami Kanesada who served Hijikata Toshizou from the Shinsengumi? I have been waiting for you."

Her words would make one expect that she was extremely excited but the look of her face and tone said otherwise. Her expression was blank, her eyes staring ahead at the sword soullessly.

"So, you are my new master? You are rather knowledgeable about me." Izuminokami cocked an eyebrow, amused by the attitude his new master had.

"It's my job," Getting on her feet, Saniwa exhaled deeply. "Now, it's time for your job. You are going to be my secretary from now on."

Saniwa was cold, she appeared almost inhuman to all the swords. She rarely communicated or interacted with her swords but instead stayed cooped up in her office everyday, refusing to speak to anyone in the citadel besides her secretary, whom she gives orders to.

Eventually, she came across as an unfriendly female who lacked intiative to improve her relations with her swords. The swords in the citadel found her too gloomy and were afraid to make any conversations with her.

Despite all these, Saniwa had one redeeming point. She loved to play the harp and would always head to the front porch to play some sweet melodies on it. This was the only time when the swords got to actually see her face and approach her, even though all of them were practically too frightened to actually do so.

Back then, Saniwa always stayed wrapped up in her own little cocoon, never wanting to get out of it and deepen her relationship with her swords. Izuminokami never understood this behaviour of hers but did not question it anyway.

He, however, found the other side of Saniwa on one fine day by managing to get Saniwa out of her shell and making her open up to everyone else. By encouraging and expressing interest in Saniwa's harp playing, he eventually warmed her ice cold heart.

Izuminokami and Saniwa ended up becoming the best of friends. With the support and help of Izuminokami, Saniwa decided to open up to the other swords as well, conveying her heartfelt feelings towards them and living life to the fullest with them. It seemed as though she took a complete three sixty turn and changed into a completely different person, for the better that is.

Then, Izuminokami still had no idea why Saniwa sealed her heart off in the beginning. Exactly, for what reason did she make the decision to be a person with a heart made of steel?
