Saniwa managed a weak smile as beads of pesperation trickled down the side of her forehead. Her complexion paled as she looked up at Buzen Gou, huffing as she tried her best to catch her breath.
"H-hey, you alright there?" Getting caught off guard, Buzen's eyebrows met as he deliberated hard on what he should do.
Just that morning, Saniwa suddenly entered his room and suggested that they went for a run together. Being a sword that loved running and was undeniably proud of his speed, Buzen had no objections to this rare offer which Saniwa had offered him. After all, whenever Buzen brings up the topic of going on a run with Saniwa, the latter would always dismiss him with a light chuckle.
The pair started off normal as they jogged together at a steady pace. Saniwa was on the slower end in terms of speed but Buzen did not mind. This was the first time Saniwa actually agreed to jogging with him and in addition to that, she was the one who brought it up this time round. Even if the speed was not up to his usual, Buzen was contented with the mere fact that he was going on a run with his current master.
However, fifteen minutes into the run and Saniwa slowed down remarkedly. Eventually, the female came to a sudden halt, pressing her palms against her thighs as she breathed in and out heavily in attempt to catch her breath. Her face paled, her lips turned dry and her breathing became even more uneven as time went by. This sight alone was beyond concerning for anyone who'd come across it.
"I-" Saniwa coughed before she forced out yet another smile. "I don't have much s-stamina..."
"Are you alright? Do you need water or anything?" Buzen asked out of panic, holding Saniwa's shoulders to support her in case she collapsed any moment then.
"I'm fine, I just need a breather." Saniwa laughed, patting the back of Buzen's him as a form of assurance.
Buzen frowned even more than he already was. "How are you able to laugh while your face looks as white as sheet? Hey, are you out of your mind? Don't lie to me if you're feeling sick."
For a brief moment, Saniwa was surprised by the way Buzen spoke to her in. It was not that she found it rude, but rather that she was surprised by how much worry was filled up in his tone. She quickly flashed him a bright smile, shaking her head gently. "I'm alright now, see?"
Straightening her back, Saniwa finally evened out her breaths and was back to normal. She was still breaking out in cold sweat, however, and the colour was still significantly drained from her face. Buzen knew better than to make her continue running. He knew for sure now: Saniwa was definitely not cut out for any form of physical activity.
Running a hand through his jet-black hair, Buzen sighed as he made eye contact with Saniwa. He then walked in front of her with his back facing towards her as he crouched down on one knee.
"Hop on."
"What? No, I'm fine-"
"Get on already," Buzen insisted, "You're in no condition to run anymore."
"But I can walk-" Saniwa rebutted but Buzen did not give in one bit.
"No more buts." His answer was firm and provided Saniwa with no other way to disagree with him.
Saniwa gave in to him unwillingly, as she slowly extended her arms around Buzen's shoulders and wrapped her legs around his waist. Once the sword got a secure hold onto her, he straightened his knees and got back to standing position with the girl clutching tightly onto his back.
"If you ever call me heavy, I will give you two- no, three times the workload when we get back," Saniwa threatened childishly as she buried her face into Buzen's back out of embarrassment.
Buzen could not help but chuckle. "You're light."
Without warning, Buzen then began sprinting forward. This scared the daylight out of Saniwa as she held onto Buzen even more tightly as if she were holding onto her dear life, not wanting to let go in worry that she would get thrown off his back.
Her hair got blown away from her face as the wind hit her face. The fast pace which Buzen was travelling at was definitely no joke, Saniwa would have been convinced if one told her that he was travelling at the speed of light.
In matter of what felt like just seconds, the pair had arrived back at the entrance of the citadel. Buzen came to a stop without breaking a drop of sweat as he smirked towards himself triumphantly, satisfied with the new record which he had made.
"You can put me down now." Saniwa muttered, her hands still clutched firmly onto Buzen's shoulders.
"I'll carry you to your room." Buzen refused her as he entered the citadel with Saniwa still on his back.
"H-hey-"
"Master, are you alright?" Kotegiri Gou greeted them at the entrance of the citadel. He raised his question towards Saniwa in worry the moment he realised that she was being piggybacked by his brother, concern flashing in his pupils behind those black framed glasses.
Saniwa reassured the wakizashi immediately. "I'm good, don't worry about me!"
It took Buzen just a split second to bring Saniwa back to her room in one piece. Only when they entered her room was when Buzen was willing to let the girl down and back to standing on her two feet.
"Hey, why did you suggest to go running with me today?" Buzen grunted, avoiding Saniwa's eyes as he spoke. "You always turned me away when I bring up the topic of running together and also, you have asthma, don't you?"
"I got found out, huh?" Saniwa smiled sheepishly.
Buzen exhaled in distress. "You didn't need to force yourself, you know."
"It's just that, whenever you talk about the scenary you see when running as well as the adrenaline rush you get when moving at such a high speed, you seem so happy," Saniwa spoke softly as she gazed over at Buzen warmly, "I wanted to try it out once myself and besides, I wanted to spend some time alone with you as well."
"But still-" Buzen paused when he processed Saniwa's last few words. His eyes moved over towards Saniwa's face, which now had a cheeky expression drawn across it.
Feeling the blood rushing to his face, Buzen stuttered. "N-next time if you want run together again, I'll just carry you all the way. That way, you can experience the true sense of satisfaction when running."
Grinning, Saniwa nodded enthusiastically.
"Let's do that tomorrow morning then!"
i wrote this at 8am in the morning idk why and i wrote it on a whim so there may me spelling and grammatical errors so sorry about that ;;
a/n: after countless writer's blocks and months of neglecting this book, i have officially come to the decision of ending this fanfiction at this final oneshot.
i am terribly sorry for disappearing and not updating this book for months. i have been both busy with school as well as lacking a ton of creativity and motivation to write new stories. some of you may also know that i picked up cosplaying and was rather preoccupied with that as well (but not much now as i kind of got out of that hobby as well).
my writing skills are definitely rusty and i will try my best to polish them up again. i will not stop writing but i will probably explore more new genres again. for the time being, i will not be writing anime/game related fanfictions until i get back into the mood of doing so again.
i had a great experience while writing this book. it made me appreciate my precious swords even more, frankly speaking, and yes i still play touken ranbu till this day (i want buzen and matsui to come home soon i am grinding the current event in order to get the entire gou family shbsjsbjsbsn).
here, i thank you humbly once again for reading my stories and amateur writing HAHA. i love you all very much and i do hope you will continue to support me in my future fanfictions to be published.
with love
ellie (miss laughy)
