book: Simon Vs The Homosapiens Agenda

author: Becky Albertalli

blurb: Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesn't play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyone's business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he's been emailing, will be compromised.

With some messy dynamics emerging in his once tight-knit group of friends, and his email correspondence with Blue growing more flirtatious every day, Simon's junior year has suddenly gotten all kinds of complicated. Now, change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he's pushed out—without alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he's never met.

review: I can't remember the last time a book made me freaking smile so much! This was such a fun read, and one I know I'll be reading again if I ever feel sad.

Maybe the writing wasn't of the best calibre, and it was very fluffy at points, but it was just such a cute story. I loved the character of Simon, and I related so much to everything he felt about crushing, love, discovering yourself. I think at times maybe Becky Albertalli was trying a bit too hard to make it seem like a realistic book (all the sexual references to his... Ya know).

It made me happy. Like properly happy, and I was totally rooting for Simon the whole way through. I was so happy with the ending, and I literally just sat down this morning and engulfed about 200 pages because I wanted to continue reading so much.

I just loved it.
