book: So You've Been Publicly Shamed

author: Jon Ronson

blurb: For the past three years, Jon Ronson has travelled the world meeting recipients of high-profile public shamings. The shamed are people like us - people who, say, made a joke on social media that came out badly, or made a mistake at work. Once their transgression is revealed, collective outrage circles with the force of a hurricane and the next thing they know they're being torn apart by an angry mob, jeered at, demonized, sometimes even fired from their job.

review: I thought this book was brilliant. I think this is probably the most interesting non-fiction book I have ever read.

I just found it an amazing commentary on the role of social media in the world today and the impact it has on people's lives. It made me see the humans behind these massive public Twitter shamings, and I feel like I've really learnt a lot about the way our society runs.

Every case study was fascinating and I really enjoyed reading all of it. The way it's written is so funny and witty that it was honestly so fun to read.
