book: Revolutionary Road

author: Richard Yates

blurb: In the hopeful 1950s, Frank and April Wheeler appear to be a model couple: bright, beautiful, talented, with two young children and a starter home in the suburbs. Perhaps they married too young and started a family too early. Maybe Frank's job is dull. And April never saw herself as a housewife. Yet they have always lived on the assumption that greatness is only just around the corner. But now that certainty is about to crumble.

review: Just because I took a little longer than usual reading this book doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it, because I actually did like this book quite a lot.

It painted a brutal and harsh reality of this marriage, and as the novel progressed it was so interesting to see all the layers of the characters be revealed as something you wouldn't have guessed right from the start. It was so well written, and it was a really compelling plot due to the nature of the characters. I did really like it, but it was quite hard to get through a points hence why it took me a long time to read quite a short book.
