Christian Brown
Yesterday Afternoon.

"Nice of you to call after all this time." My mothers voice rung through my ears.

"I'm sorry momma, I've been busy."

"Too busy for the one that pushed you out of her—"

"I get the idea, no need for the detail." I cut her off quickly, "How you been? How's Maui?"

I liked to send her off on exotic vacations every now and then just as a 'thank you' for always being there for me I guess you could say.

"It's gorgeous over here dear, you wouldn't believe it. Thank you for the trip."

"You don't have to thank me momma."

"You know this trip would be a whole lot better with my son here. It's lonely walking around by myself."

"It's your son that's working to pay for the trip, remember that."

"You need a vacation. I don't want you overworking yourself, Christian."

"I'm not overworking myself ma. If anything I'm under working myself cause I can't close this fucking deal." I mumbled.

"Language. I'll still beat you little boy, watch yourself." She warned. "Now, tell me about your troubles baby."

"It's nothing, don't worry yourself, okay? You're on vacation, enjoy yourself."

"Alright. How's Alex?"

"Who?"

"Boy don't play dumb with me. You guys have been out and around everywhere."

"Define everywhere, ma."

"Magazines, blogs, etcetera. 'Bachelor Christian Brown has a girlfriend'." She read aloud, "Everyone's pretty shaken up about it but I don't see the issue with it if he ask me. It's nice that you finally found someone."

"She's not my girlfriend firstly."

She sucked her teeth. "Why! She seems like such a sweet girl and so beautiful too."

"You've never met her so how would you know she's nice?"

"Good point. You should invite her for dinner. I'd love to meet her."

"No." I said sternly.

"But—"

"No. I said what I said. Now I have to go, I'll call you when I get home."

She sighed, "Okay, love. Bye! I have a jet ski session to catch anyway."

"Bye." I hung up and leaned back into my chair, taking time to appreciate the silence— something I almost never got.
