"Sprinkle it on top lightly Maya. We don't want what happened last time to happen again."

"I won't mommy, I got it."

"You sure?" I gave her questionable look, "Last time you said you wouldn't drop it and the whole bag ended up wasted."

"That was an accident mommy, I said I was sorry." She pouted.

"And I forgave you," I lifted her up onto the counter and handed her the small resealable bag of mozzarella cheese, "Now do it very carefully, Maya."

She started to drop the cheese on top carelessly.

"Okay, okay, okay, that's enough." I put her down when I noticed she was doing a little too much.

"Did I do good, mommy?"

"Phenomenally. Here take the plates and set the table up."

She ran off in the other direction.

"What did I say about running inside?!"

"Sorry, mommy!"

That girl. I had just finished poring our drinks when someone started pounding on my door.

"I'm coming!"

Damn. People don't have any sort of patience nowadays. I stood on my toes and looked through the peephole. I kissed my teeth. Damon. I opened the door.

"What?"

"Whatchu looking so upset for baby? I thought you'd be happy to see me." He said inviting himself in.

"You can't keep popping up whenever you feel like it."

"So I can't check up on you now?"

"I don't need to be checked up on. Now what you can start doing is call and ask to come over. This ain't your house."

"You cooking?" He asked completely ignoring what I had just said.

"Yes, I did cook for my daughter and I. Not you, so what you can do is walk three-stroke joke ass up—"

"Mommy?" Maya's head came around the corner.

"Maya! Hey baby girl." Damon came and scooped her up. "I missed you so much."

She looked confused at first, she didn't really see her dad much so I can understand why.

"Hi, daddy." She gave him a quick little hug before being put down.

"You been good to your moms?"

She nodded. "Mhm. Are you staying? Me and mommy cooked spaghetti."

Damon glanced over at me and then back at Maya.

"Of course I'm staying! You know what? We can even have a sleepover."

"Uh Uh, no, no sleepovers."
