I can already see the "What's going on?!?!" Comments rolling in as we dive deeper into this chapter *sigh*

Excuse the errors. Auto correct is a bitch.

"She's still not feeling great?" Momma Joyce asked as she stepped into Alex's room. She was sitting down on the bed with Maya cradled in her arms.

"No," she sighed, "I can't get her to sleep for anything. I think it's all her congestion that's keeping her up."

"Did you give her the Mucinex?"

"I did. I think it's just working into her system a little slow."

"You still feeling icky Maya?" Joyce asked in a hushed tone as she reached out for her.

Maya pressed herself deeper into Alex's body. When she was sick she didn't want to be touched by anyone. All it was was a common cold, nothing too serious but Maya always had to be dramatic.

"I'm sorry, she doesn't mean anything by that. Don't take it to heart."

"Oh honey you don't have to apologize, I understand. I'll run downstairs and get her some Benadryl, that should make her feel a little better and get her to bed."

Alex nodded and turned her attention back down to Maya who had started coughing extra loud to get the attention back to herself.

Joyce left the room and was met with Christian worried face when she got to the bottom of the steps. Since he wasn't on the best terms with either Alex or Maya at the moment he had to rely on Joyce for information.

"Is she alright?"

"She's fine, Christian. Don't worry about it. It's just a little cold is all."

"Are you sure she's good? I heard her coughing up there and—"

"Coughing is a normal side effect of a cold, yes."

"Momma can you stop making me feel dumb, please?"

"Well you are acting dumb. Playing both sides of the field with that poor girl's feelings." She said as she pushed past him to the kitchen.

He sighed, not bothering to respond. He already knew that was a battle he couldn't win. The whole house- save for Jasmen, had turned against him. Maya wouldn't acknowledge him, Alex barely did, Latoya was too wrapped up in Joesph to notice anything else in the first place, and Joesph and Pam were wrapped up in building a stronger bond with Alex and Maya.

He wished he could go back and smack himself from that day because all of his actions had caught up to him now and that shit sucked. He wasn't even welcome in his own home anymore.

He walked back to his room and laid down. He figured he'd get some sleep since it's not like he had anything else to do.

As he drifted off he was thinking of what he could possibly do it get Maya's trust back, or at least make her understand that he loved her- he just didn't know how to be a dad.

Christian had felt a sharp pain on his cheek as his head jerked to the side roughly. He held the side of his face and turned back to see who had done it.

"Alex?" He looked down at her, squinting slightly before taking in his surroundings. He was in a room- something similar looking to one of the meeting rooms in his complex.

"Naw bitch, this is Grace. Imma beat your ass like Alex should've though!" The woman said before lunging at him.

"YO! GRACE CHILL!" Someone said as they pulled her away from him before she made contact.
