"You have all the things you need?" Christian asked as he watched Maya come hop down the steps.

She nodded. When she reached the bottom of the steps she handed him a piece of crumpled paper that was in her hand.

"What's this?" He asked while unfolding the paper.

"It's for my big re..cite..all." She sounded out, "See my name is big at the bottom because I'm gonna be the special ballerina."

"Oh?"

"Mhm and you have to come to because your my daddy."

"I don't know if I can make it Maya, I'll be working then."

She frowned, "Can you not work?"

"I really don't know, I'll think about it okay?"

She grinned, "Okay!" To her, 'I'll think about it' translated into 'Yes'.

"Is my mommy here?" She questioned as she looked left and right.

"No, not yet."

Just as the words left his mouth the sound of a car pulling up could be heard outside. Maya gasped and ran to the door, pressing her face against the glass that was beside it.

"Mommy!" She yelled. "Daddy! Mommy's back!"

"I know, My. I heard her to." He said as he came up behind her and unlocked the door. She ran out of the house and down the driveway. He couldn't lie, it kind of hurt seeing how fast she was going to get away from him. He deserved a hug or something.

"Mommy!" Maya ran into Alex's legs, squeezing them on contact. "I missed you." She said into her jeans.

"Aww, I missed you to baby." Alex lifted her up the ground and set her on her hip. She pushed some of the hair out of her face. "Who did your hair? Christian?"

"Mhm, and he washed it to! We had so much fun together mommy. Can we come live with daddy forever?"

"Daddy?" Alex furrowed her eyebrows. She glanced over at the door where Christian was standing with his arms folded. She quickly set Maya down and approached him.

"Hey." She smiled, while in her head silently praying Maya didn't run her mouth.

"Hey." He returned the smiled now unfolding his arms and stuffing them into his red basketball shorts. Being with Robyn taught him how to portray emotions well.

"Thank you for doing this, I hope she wasn't too much trouble?"

"What? No not at all, I'm happy to do it anytime. I know raising your cousin must be really hard on you."

Alex felt as though he was staring straight into her soul. He knew something, she knew that now for sure. Maya had to have slipped up at some point.

"Yeah, it is." She replied. This most definitely wasn't the right time to tell him-- or to own up to anything.

"You had a good time in New York?" He asked, now changing the subject. Inside he was fuming. He hated to being lied to and it only made things worse with him knowing she was lying to his face right now.
