As Yin drifted off, Yang was unaware that she had already fallen unconscious. For 2 hours, his eyes had stared at the papers in front of him without understanding anything, impatiently waiting for her return.

Continuing to look at the words increased his veiled irritation, "So you wanted to eat with your friends more than me? That's harsh, Yin" he joked, trying to keep his tone light but there was an edge he couldn't completely conceal.

When she did not reply, he grew more frustrated, "Are you going to start ignoring me now? Am I not as good as your friends?" the word came out harsher than he wanted but he couldn't keep his emotions at bay.

He turned and saw she'd fallen asleep on the sofa. Her eyes closed as her black hair was scattered around her. She looked peaceful and elegant.

In an instant, Yang's anger dissipated into nothing. He placed his papers down carelessly and shifted forward to carefully hug her sleeping form. He stiffened when she stirred but only so she could lie more comfortably against his chest before settling down again, he sighed in relief.

He hadn't been able to hold her these past few days since he'd been busy reviewing. He missed this contented feeling in his heart. The warmth from her body and the flowery scent that wafted through the air intoxicated him. He rubbed her silky hair against his fingertips, kissing them lightly.

He thought it'll be easier to get closer to her since they were alone and his parents weren't around to judge. Their relationship had improved by leaps and bounds to the point that it was like they were back to before he entered college and for the 1st few days, he was satisfied with this. Cherishing their reunion and thrilled at their cohabitation.

But soon he realized it wasn't enough anymore.

He wanted to hold her like this everyday and night. He wanted to kiss her hair and lips. He wanted to touch every part of her. Claim her as his own. Forever.

But she was still so distant. Yin was so polite and innocent. So fragile like a china doll. As if if he touched her in such a way that would seem inappropriate, she'd run away from him or he'd break her.

His only reprieve - as it has been for the past few years - was during her unconsciousness. During the days she was so tired from chores and school, she'll just go to sleep as soon as she closed her eyes, sleeping deeply. He'll lie by her side to hug her gently since he was still afraid she might wake up. He'll lie content for hours until the sun rose then leave without a trace.

Recently though she began locking her door at night and although he had a copy of her key, it unnerved him to think that she could find a way to distance herself from him.

The thought made his chest clench as his arms tightened around her unconsciously. When she shifted in discomfort he immediately relaxed his hold yet his body was tense, waiting. She stirred for a second but didn't wake.

He was relieved again and wished she was awake so he didn't need to be so careful. He wished she was awake and would let him hold her tightly.

Yin shivered in his arms, bringing him back from his thoughts once more. It was chilly in the living room.

He moved away and came back with a blanket which he draped over both of them as he hugged her small form, kissing the top of her head.

Soon. He'll be able to hug her all he wants. Whether asleep or awake.
