The next morning, I woke up later than usual so even if I ran around like mad, I'll be late for my 1st class. Strangely, I didn't even care and was almost reluctant to go to school but I still got up to prepare.

Downstairs, I saw Yang seated in the dining room, browsing through his phone as food was prepared on the table.

"Yang, what about school? Won't you be late?" Way past late, he'd missed his 1st class.

"I was worried about you. Are you sure you're ready to go to school? I can call in that your sick"

I stopped in thought, standing behind my chair on the table.

I looked up at him with hopeful eyes, "Can I?"

He smiled as he got up, "Sit down while I make the call. You need to rest after last night"

I sat down and ate. Yang came back a few minutes later and also started eating.

"What about your classes, Yang?"

"I called in sick as well so I can take care of you"

I was touched but also concerned. Yang was a top student. Wouldn't this affect his grades?

Yang smiled when I voiced this out as if my concern was funny, "I'm human too, Yin. I get sick sometimes and my friends are nice enough to let me copy their notes on the things I missed"

"You have such good friends" while I got ones who end up using and traumatizing me.

As if catching my thoughts, his smile dropped, "He was just a bad egg, Yin. What he did is not your fault and sadly, people like that exist in this world. You just need to learn to move on and be more wary" he advised and I nodded in understanding. He smiled again adding, "But you should know I'm always here for you and I'll do anything to help you in times of need"

I smiled back at him for his sincere words as breakfast continued.

...

When I came back to school, Gavin was no longer there and Nina told me his family suddenly moved away.

I was shocked but not as shocked as I had expected. I was mostly relieved I never had to see him again.

It was only when I was called to the principal's office that I was told Gavin was actually expelled for what happened the other night where all the guards including Yang bore witness to him harassing me. I felt it was too harsh to expel him when it was already our final year and that he didn't actually hurt me but I didn't say anything to express my thoughts.

The principal also told me about how Gavin's parents asked me not to file any charges against him where I told her that I wasn't.

When I came out that office, I remembered Yang's words and decided to move on. Gavin wasn't here anymore and I was probably never going to see him again.

I'm going to leave this all behind me.
