By nightfall, everyone was in the armory dressing in chainmail and metal chest-plates. Shields and various weapons being passed around. You approach Kili as he inspects a shield for its size.
"Kili, please," You plead without the others hearing "You're still healing."
"I need to (Y/N)," Kili replies "I must. For my family, my people, our people."
"Then I will as well," You claim, beginning to walk to where the chainmail is
"Amralime, no," Kili says, grabbing your wrist "I cannot be at ease knowing you may get hurt."
You blink at the name he calls you. A Dwarvish word you know from your memories. One that translates to 'My love'. But you don't take time to address it.
"Kili I could've been hurt a multitude of times on the journey here," You point out
"I know but this is different," He claims "If I'm out there and something happens to me I at least know you're safe."
"And what if in some way I could have helped you?" You question "Let me help protect my family and those I've grown close with. Kili, if this is a fight for the honor of my blood, let this be my first chance to stand for it. Just as you are."
A sigh escapes Kili's lips, knowing you won't back down from this argument.
"Fine," Kili says "At least let me help you find something that will come close to fitting."
"Deal," You agree with a small smile
"And show you a few things," He adds
"Alright," You reply
Soon enough, you're in armor and watching as Kili demonstrates some techniques. You learn quickly and practice as Kili helps makes sure you're doing it properly. By nightfall, most of everyone go to separate places to rest. You being unable to sleep decide to talk with Kili until one of you does so. Unknowing of what tomorrow has planned for you and the rest of the company.
