"Ayyeee!" The automatic reaction came loud at the start of some popular song and I tried to show the same excitement. Tony was throwing yet another party, and I hadn't been to one in months, so to prove myself I wasn't a complete recluse, I bought a new outfit, I had Wanda do my hair, I had Nat do my make-up, and I showed up.

Honestly, it's the dumbest idea I've ever had.

The sounds were loud, the drink was strong and the people were perfection. So naturally, me and my doesn't-like-loud-noises, still-can't-legally-drink, I'm-not-pretty self was trying way too hard to fit in and smile and laugh. I knew the bartender - we went to school together - so I aimed straight for the bar when I turned up halfway through.

"Eliyah?" He asked incredulously, sliding a red-pink drink over the sleek bar top toward Clint. I smiled and sat on one of the stools.

"Hey, Adam. I thought it was you." I replied, leaning on my forearms on the bar. He grinned.

   "You remembered me!"

"Of course I did, you were my first kiss, if you can call it that." I said teasingly.

"Hey, I didn't know my sister would come in."

"You fucking hoovered my mouth. Please say you've got game by now."

"Well," he pointed at the gold band on his ring finger, "My wife must think so, right?"

"Oh wow, I didn't even know you got married, congrats! Who's the lucky girl?"

   "You remember Eco Club?"

   "Who could forget?"

   "Tammy."

"TAMMY? No way, oh my God. Wait, seriously, Tammy?" He nodded proudly and I laughed.

"Here, this was our wedding day." He said, retrieving his wallet and showing me a picture of him, in a black tux, and a dark, pretty woman stood in a white fairy tale dress. I smiled.

   "She's always been so pretty."

"You wouldn't say that if you saw her first thing in the morning chucking her guts into the toilet."

   "Chucking her guts?"

"She's pregnant." He blushed delightedly and I put my hand on my chest.

"No way! I can't believe it, I'm so happy for you."

"I mean, it's pretty great, right? But not as great as being invited to Tony Stark's party, how the Hell did that happen?"

"I work here." I replied tentatively.

   "What do you do?"

"If I told you that, I'd have to kill you." I winked. I was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and God it was exhausting not telling anyone, never mind all the fuss a few years ago when that HYDRA shit surfaced.

"Ooh, fancy." He grinned, then poured something into a glass and put curled orange peel on the side, sliding it towards me.

"I probably can't drink that." I said apologetically. Adam leaned in.

"It's literally just water. I know you're not allowed to drink, dipshit, we're the same age." I grinned at him gratefully.

"Thank you, Adam. I'll come back later for a refill. It was good to see you, tell Tammy I say hi."

"I will. Good luck out there, Eli."

"Shush, people are gonna think I'm socially awkward if you say that." I winked, then picked up my drink and left, weaving around people until I managed to find Sharon. I was her shadow when I first started as an agent, and I'll just say right now, she's probably my best friend. She grinned at me when I appeared.
