There's a light across the street
What a story it will keep
Though it's silent in the day
I hope that it will stay
Glowing faces and icy breath
Put nightfall to the test
Illuminate what remains unseen
Despair to what remains unclean
All the stories it could tell
Of midnight choices so unwell
Eleven hours out of the clock
Until the sunlight makes it stop
I've watched the streetlight for entire nights
Indulge yourself free from fright
The incidents in the early hours of day
Makes me hope one streetlight will stay.
