We may not have a merry Christmas
The last month the loneliest of the year
Full of painful memories and longing
Instead of happiness and cheerWe may not have a happy family
No peace inside our home
Arguments and anger replace love
Our holidays better spent aloneWe may not have all that we dream of
Hopes for jolly futures full of fun
Asleep thinking of what could be
If they hadn't chose to runBut we know we have each other
So we celebrate just the same
Full of music and cheesy movies
Even if not on Christmas dayWe'll try to frost our cookies
Although we hardly have the hand
Pop buttered popcorn for our feast
Turn on the Taylor Swift and danceI don't need a happy family
For that reality is blue
I don't need a merry Christmas
I just need Christmases with you
