She watched him from across the locale. The beautiful, vibrant colours of botanical architecture contrasted well with the green grass that stretched the spacious garden. The blue sky looked appeasing with white clouds floating from here to there. The dresses worn by the women at the gathering were all coloured lightly to show off their complexion and to enhance their visage.

Chaeyoung was surrounded by bright colours, that's why she couldn't understand why she felt so gloomy.

At the back of her mind, however, a voice she knew all too well kept convincing her that the reason to her unexplainable sadness was the presence of the man she used to have close ties with.

She closed her eyes instantly at the thought. As a result, her vision was no longer directed at the lean man conversing with his colleagues. Instead, her gaze was void of anything— her lids covering her pupils.

Still, that was better than having to see him.

Kim Namjoon used to be her beau, and during the time he was, their relationship flourished. They were head-over-heels in love. Simply being in each other's company made their hearts beat erratically and made them feel giddy.

Well, at least, that was the first half of their 4 year dating experience.

During the last two years, everything went downhill. It was unexplainable. Their bond crumbled down quickly, so quick that it matched the pace of the thumps of their heart. They did love each other, but they still kept asking themselves wether that feeling was enough to keep up with an already failing relationship.

Countless of times, it was proven that it could have been— that it it could've been worth it.

Then again, it's also been proven in several occurrences, that sometimes, it wasn't worth it. If neither of you were happy, it wasn't worth it.

So, she decided to break things off a year ago.

Chaeyoung ended it, but why was she the one staring at him with longing in her eyes? Why was she the one missing their late night conversations? Why was she the one reminiscing on their fond memories when she was the one who decided that they were better off as platonic acquaintances?

Chaeyoung hated hypocrites, but she was proving her hypocrisy more by being one. She hated that. He also hated that too.

A hand nudged her arm. She looked up to meet Lalisa's eyes— the unmistakable euphoric glint was enough to bring a smile on her face. The fringe-haired girl frowned when the blonde's smile didn't reach her eyes.

"What's wrong? Did the food taste bad?" Lalisa joked to appease her friend. Chaeyoung laughed light-heartedly.

"Any food that you didn't cook is good."

The younger's grey locks cascaded down the front of her shoulders when she bent down and stuck her tongue out at the girl. Chaeyoung rolled her eyes and playfully pushed Lalisa out of the way. "Jeez. You got married today, and you're still acting like a five year-old!"

"Why are you here bothering me, anyway? You should be with your husband entertaining guests and whatnot."

"But, you're my guest, too," Lalisa waved her hand dismissively, "Frankly, I don't know a quarter of the people here so I'm waiting for Jungkook so we can go greet them together."

"Ooh, so clingy." Chaeyoung teased. "Are you happy?"

"More than happy, Chaeng. I've never felt this content in a long time."

"No regrets?"

"None at all."

Chaeyoung could do nothing but smile in return. She was happy for her best friend, there no doubt about that, but she couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy that Lisa was feeling pure bliss.

Awhile ago, she witnessed the matrimonial ceremony. The wide grins on both Lisa and Jungkook's faces were an emblem of their happiness. With a smile, she thought, 'I want that too', then the curve on her lips faltered when her mind travelled to the be-dimpled boy she loved.

She peered again at Namjoon. He was doing alright without her.

Her decision was right.

Right?
