Song for this chapter: I'll be there

- Walk off the Earth

"Will you go in with her?" Myles asks.

"I was going to anyway." I tell him and he just nods his head. I gently push the door open, but don't get out as Myles gently grabs my arm.

"Are you okay?" He asks.

"Yeah. I'm good. Are you good?"

"Yes, just please stay with her. With all this bullying, I'm scared at what she's going to do and Grayson was such an asshole and I can tell it really hurt her feelings. Just, make sure she's okay?" He looks so worried, and I know that look. Connor wears it around me all the time. 'The protective older brother look.'

"Of course." I tell him, with a reassuring smile and then leave the car and enter their house, through the door that was left open by Lydia. "Lyds?" I call after I've shut the door behind me. I look through her lounge and her kitchen, after not finding her - I decide to check upstairs. When I find her in her room, she's crying and my heart swells. "Lydia?" I call out to her and begin to walk towards her, tentatively reaching out my arms to hug her. At the last minute, she gets up from the bed and crashes into me, wrapping her arms around me.

"It's okay." I mumble in her ear as she sobs into my shoulder. Truthfully, it wasn't okay because Lydia definitely wasn't okay, she seemed heartbroken. I think she's finally had enough of everything.

She calms down slightly after about five minutes and releases me from her tight embrace. When I see her face, her eyes are red and swollen and tears are still continually rolling down her cheeks.

"I'm so sorry for bringing you into that fight." She apologizes. She actually apologizes. It makes me mad to know that she always takes the blame for what other people put her through.

"You don't have to say sorry, seriously. I'm fine. Right now, I'm worried about you."

"I'm okay." She mumbles, and I narrow my eyes at her, shaking my head slowly.

"I'm not okay." She cries, shaking her head over and over, her bottom lip trembling. I open my arms for her again and she walks right into them. I place my chin on the top of her head as she sobs against my shoulder, her wet tears soaking through my top. When Cleo used to get upset about her dead-beat dad, she would always come to me for a shoulder to cry on, and I'd do this exact thing; cradle her until she calmed down and realised what a beautiful person she was inside and out.

"I'm here. I'll always be here." I promise, and my heart swells when I hear her small, broken voice whisper back to me.

"I know. Me too for you."
