The First Cut Is The Deepest

Meredith: "It's all about lines. The finish line at the end of residency. Waiting in line for a chance at the operating table. And then there's the most important line, the line separating you from the people you work with. It doesn't help to get too familiar. To make friends. You need boundaries between you and the rest of the world. Other people are far too messy. It's all about lines. Drawing lines in the sand and praying like hell no one crosses them."

Izzie: "Why put up posters if you don't want roommates?" she asks after Meredith interviewed some people

Meredith: "l do want roommates. We're together 100 hours a week. You want to live together too?"

Cristina: "l see you bring bribes now." she says seeing the coffee in Meredith's hand

George: "l need a place to live. My mom irons my scrubs. l have to get out of there."

Meredith: "lt's not a bribe. l don't think it's a good idea."

George: "l can put down last, first, and deposit."

Cristina: "lt's totally a bribe."

Izzie: "l can cook, and l'm an obsessive cleaner."

Meredith: "No. l just want three total strangers who l don't have to talk to or be nice to."

Audrey: "Wouldn't that just be weird?" she asks making Meredith give her a look before looking at Cristina

Meredith: "It's not a bribe. lt's a mocha latte."

Bailey: "George, run the code team. Meredith, take the trauma pager. Cristina, deliver the labs to the patients. Izzie and Audrey, you're on sutures." she says coming up to them before going to go up the stairs

Meredith: "Dr. Bailey, I was hoping to assist you in the OR today. Maybe do a minor procedure. l think l'm ready. Mocha latte?"

Cristina: "lf she gets to cut, l want to cut."

Izzie: "Me too."

Audrey: "Me three." she says shooting her hand up

George: "l wouldn't mind another shot."

Bailey: "Stop talking. Every intern wants to perform their first surgery. That's not your job. Do you know what your job is? To make your resident happy. Do l look happy? No. Why? Because my interns are whiny. You know what will make me look happy? Having code team staffed, having the trauma pages answered, having the weekend labs delivered and having someone down in the pit doing the sutures. No one holds a scalpel till l'm so happy l'm Mary-freakin'-Poppins." she says taking the cup from Meredith and walking up the stairs

Cristina: "Mocha latte, my ass."

Bailey: "Why are y'all standing there? Move!" she yells as they all scramble

Audrey: "Alright...Alissa. How are you today?" she asks pulling back the curtain to see a little girl and her mom sitting on the bed

Alissa: "My leg hurts."

Audrey: "Mind if I take a look?" she asks sitting on a stool looking at her leg to see a huge cut on it

Woman: "She wanted to be just like her big brother and do a trick on his bike. Didn't exactly go over well. Scraped her leg on the ground."

Audrey: "Ok well it looks like you're going to need a few stitches but other than that you should be good to go. Ok." she says as the girl nods her head

Izzie: "Hey can I borrow you for a second." she says coming over to where Audrey is at after she finished the stitches
