Y/N's POV

"Hey family I brought over y/n today so we could hang out and do homework." Elena, my best friend, says as she opens the door. Some people find our friendship weird since she is older than me, but who said your best friends have to be your age? We get along so well and have so many things in common. Plus her brother Alex, who is my age, is really cute. I've actually been crushing on him for a while.

"Hey everyone!" I greet the family as I walk into the apartment.

"Hey y/n it's great to have you here, it's been a while since you hung out here." Penelope says as she pulls me in for a hug. I hug her back and then pull back.

"Yeah it's just i've been busy and I was dealing with some things." I say and smile at her. Yeah, like dealing with the huge crush I have on my best friends brother.

"But i'm here now because I missed you guys and I missed hanging out with my best friend." I say and smile over at Elena.

"Well thats great, now we should probably eat so you guys have energy to do homework." Penelope says sand heads over to set the table. I set my bag down on the couch and begin to help her.

"Alex! Come on it's time to eat." Penelope calls out for him. My stomach is filled with butterflies as soon as I hear his name and my palms begin to sweat as I hear him making his way down the hall. He emerges from the hall and heads to the table. Once he sees me he smiles and greets me.

"Hey y/n, long time no see." Alex says.

"Hey Alex, we literally see each other at school how has it been a long time since you've seen me." I say and laugh slightly.

"Well yeah but that doesn't really count, we don't talk a lot at school." Alex says.
It's true. We occasionally say hi to each other when we see each other in the halls.

"I guess you're right. Anyways i'm here to hang out and do homework with Elena." I say. He nods his head and looks down, almost as if he sad.

Lydia and Penelope then come out of the kitchen with the food and we sit at the table and begin eating. While we eat we have a small conversation. Throughout dinner though, Alex and I kept making eye contact from across the table. At first it was just accidental, but then I could literally feel his eyes on me. I would look at him, and he would already be looking my way. When we made eye contact he winked my way and I freaked out internally and then looked away quickly. He smirked and then continue eating.

We finish eating food and helped clean up the table. I picked up my plate and placed it in the sink. I thanked Penelope and Lydia for the food and then Elena and I headed to her room.

Once we're in her room we settled down on her bed and began doing on our homework.

After working quietly for an hour or so I look over at Elena and ask her a question.

"So how's it going with Syd?" I ask. Elena looks up and smiles at me, her face red from blushing.

"It's going really good, but you know with me going off to college we're going to have to do long distance and I don't know if I can do it." Elena says rambling a little.

"Hey of course you can do it. You love them so much that you would be willing to make things work no matter what. I believe the both of you can do it." I say and smile at her.
