"Are you nervous?" Dani leaned over trying to make conversation with me.
"No I'm ready to get that piece of paper and go on about my life." I fake smiled.
"I feel like you don't like me." She pouted.
"Sis I really don't, and I don't appreciate you telling my nigga I was pregnant. Have a blessed life though." I turned around paying attention to the ceremony.
"Now for our graduates." The person said over the mic.
"Layla Simone James." Lay's name was called.
"YALL NIGGAS AINT FUCKING WITH MY GIRL!" Ant yelled from the stands.
"IM PROUD OF YOUUU!" Her brother and Dad yelled.
"THATS MY MF FRIEND." Shae shouted.
"AW I THOUGHT A BITCH THAT AINT GOT HER DIPLOMA SAID SUM." I hyped her up.
"LIL SIS ND EM!" Jay and Sosa yelled.
The announcer continued calling names until he came across mine. I got up and started walking to the stage.
"Aniya Nicole Smith." I heard my name.
"COME ON BABYGIRL!" My mom yelled.
"PERIOD NIYA BOO!" My grandma called me by my childhood nickname.
"YALL FOO NIGGAS WISH YALL WAS ON LIL SIS LEVEL!" Sosa yelled.
"YESSUH." Zay shouted.
"THATS MY BEST FRIEND!"
"GO BEST FRIEND!" Shae and Ari yelled after Lay.
I looked up and didn't see Jay. I pouted and went back to my chair to listen to the rest of the ceremony.
After all the names were called we walked outside to find our families.
"WE DID IT!" I ran to Lay and hugged her.
"I love you bestie." She squeezed me.
"Aye Niy." Zay tapped my shoulder.
"What?" I gave him my attention.
He nodded over towards Jay and I rolled my eyes.
"I got sum to show you." He opened the car door.
"You weren't even there when they called my name." I looked over at him.
"You'll see in a minute." He started driving in an unknown direction.
We crossed into Brier Creek and I looked at him funny.
"What are you doing Jay'shawn?" I nervously chuckled.
"Chillat lil mama." He laughed.
"Put dis on." He handed me a bandana.
"Jay if I pee on myself." I cut my eyes at him tying it around me.
"Girl hush." I felt him park the car.
"Take my hand you'll be straight." He lifted me out the car.
He stood me up and left me there for what seemed like forever.
"Take it off." He stood behind me.
I opened my eyes and a pair of keys dangled in my face.
"No you didn't." I gasped.
"I did." He grinned.
