Over the years, Rose has learned how to be self-reliant. Her childhood had been lonely and unforgiving to Rose. However, she survived coming out the other end as a strong-willed and intelligent young woman.
After a series of bad choices, Rose's fami...

I am late on my first day. Nothing screams Rose more than that. It is kind of my fault we are late. I suggested we go to a gas station. Not my fault; I wanted a little bit of normalcy. Cedric and Carlo met with their friends in the parking lot, where they lectured me on stealing, whatever. But at least I know someone here.
Dane was my childhood best friend. He fell off the face of the Earth when I was 12. I was so disappointed that my only friend would leave me, so I stopped making friends. When I was in a bad foster home, the only thing I could look forward to was school, but only to see Dane.
Also, no, I have never had a crush on him. I was shocked that after everything I had to go through by myself, he shows up now. What kind of sick joke is that? The front office wasn't busy and had a few old ladies at the front desk.
They were all kind and gave me my schedule and told me where my locker was. I didn't bother going because I had no books that I knew of.
Finally, I made it to my first class because I missed homeroom. I open the door, and everyone's heads turn towards me looks at me. Some looked at me then looked away, but others were staring too hard.
They are all judging me. When people do things like this, it makes me want to knock their teeth in. I can feel the girls sizing me up, which makes no sense. I haven't even said a damn thing.
"Name?" the teacher said rudely, seeming to have no time for me.
"Rose Giordano," I said calmly to the rude teacher. My name was interesting because everyone started whispering. It was not helping with my need to punch someone. The class was going to last two miserable hours that I was not looking forward to.
"Oh, okay, sit in a free seat. We were just about to start," she said a lot sweeter. Good to know she is not always a bitch. There was a seat in the middle of the room left, so I went over and sat down. The class went by slowly, to my disappointment. My next class is Science, which is easy. That class went a lot smoother. Next was Lunch.
Walking into the cafeteria, there was a lot of people. I usually skipped lunch at my old school, so this is not my scene. Going through the lunch line to get food, I look for an empty table. In the middle of the cafeteria is what I guess the "popular girls' are. They all looked like they try too hard.
I see my brothers and their friends also not too far away from them. I decide to stay away from them today because I have heard they have many fans. I walk to the farthest place from them, where I see an empty table. I sat down and started eating while everyone barely noticed me.
I sit with my headphones in with my full attention on my food, so I didn't see when my brothers and friends started walking over. I finally noticed when Cedric and Carlo sat on both sides of me.
"Hello dear sister, how is the first day going?" Carlo said, putting an arm over my shoulder. He seemed like the most friendly brother of them all next to Gino. However, physical touch has never been typical to me, so I tried not to cringe when his arm landed on my shoulder.
