Chapter 9 : Romance

"Lev-kun, wait up!"

Lev turned to see the strawberry blonde girl running up to him. She had a cheeky smile on her face that made his flutter. "Akahana-chan? What's wrong?" It seemed he forgot their promise from earlier. "You forgot didn't you?" He was confused but finally remembered. "C'mon, my sister is the one in charged of the keys of the gym today."

The two walked to Chou and she looked at him. "Are you one of their benched members from the boys?" Chou blatantly asked to Lev, it made him feel sad. "Chou-nee, look what you did to him!" Akahana showed her the sad skyscraper that made her laugh.

"Anyways, here's the keys." She threw the keys into Akahana's hands. "Just don't do anything dirty." Chou smirked that made both first years blush redder than their jackets.

Trying to forget what Chou had said, Akahana unlocked the gym doors. The gym was dark that made Akahana squeaked. "Are you afraid of the dark?" Akahana nodded and tried to find the light switch. "It's okay, Akahana-chan! You're with the ace of Nekoma!" Lev encouraged but it made her snicker.

Finally they had found the light switch and now they could practice. "Right, are ya ready, Lev-kun?" She pulled the ball cart and get one of the blue-yellow ball. "Of course! I wanted to be Nekoma's ace!" He shouted that made an echo in the gym.

Some failed attempts later, the two were already tired. "Whoa Akahana-chan, your arms have bruises!" Lev pointed out, she looked at them and smiled. "It's fine, I actually like seeing them like when I was playing." Her sweet childish voice was in a sad tone.

"I'm always wondering where did you transferred from and why." Lev admitted. Akahana drank from her water bottle and wiped her mouth. "I transferred from Fukuroudani Academy, um...my parents told me to transferred here because it's closer to our apartment." Lev's eyes sparkled and smiled widely. "You live in an apartment?"

The two didn't left the gym but to talk about other topics than volleyball. "Lev-kun, do you have crush on anyone~?" She wiggled her eyebrows as she cleaned the gym. Lev turned all shades of pink and tried to ignore the question but he couldn't. "I-I don't like anyone...how about you?" Akahana smiled and told him to not be surprise. "It's a secret but I just recently liked him..." Lev suddenly feel a warm feeling and hoping it was him.

"Really? Is he from the team?" He asked as she continued. "Well, yes, he is from the team. He's a first year..." from that confirmation Lev was determined. "Really? Is it Shibayama?" He asked her again, since the two were in the same class. "Um...no, and I see him could be perfect for Yukimura."

Lev was now really curious. "And he's also a substitute." Another clue, he was on the bench and it couldn't be Inuoka since he was in the team. "Anything else~?" He meowed. "Smart too..." He thought as himself as smart, although he was panicking about a test earlier that morning.

"I think the guy I'm into is..." Lev folded his hands and hoped for it to be him, did I mentioned he was silently praying too?

"It's Teshiro-kun."

It felt his heart skipped a beat. He got beaten by that pinch server. "What about me?" He whined, the girl pouted. "You can't even receive in front of a three years experienced libero." She stated.

Even though Akahana said she liked Teshiro, he wasn't heartbroken or angry, he was not surprisingly determined. "What's so interesting about him?" Lev smirked at her as blushed. "Well...his giggles, his serves, he's also have higher grades than me, and his everything..." Lev felt like had been hit with daggers with impossible. 'My grades are lower than hers.'

"Oh, how about your test?"

"Uh...I pass."
