* New Year's Eve *

"Did you find what you're going to wear?" Elise asks me as she applies mascara.

"I'm stuck between these two outfits, which one do you prefer?" I ask her, looking down at the two completely different laid out outfits on my bed.

"Hm, let me see, " she says, coming next to me.

I'm debating between a long-sleeve white mini dress that cinches in at the waist and white knees high boots to match or a black one-shoulder bodycon dress and black diamante thigh-high boots.

"The black dress, " she says before going back to continue doing her makeup.

"I agree, " I say, putting on the dress.

"So, what's going on with you and Jacob?" She turns to me, raising an eyebrow.

"Nothing is going on with me and Jacob, why do you ask?" I sit next to her to start doing my makeup as well.

"Oh, come on Chloe! He likes you, like a lot, " she says, putting on lipstick.

"How are you all so sure that he likes me?"

"Seriously? He like, flirts with you all the time, " she says, rolling her eyes.

"Yeah, Jacob flirts sometimes but he jokes like that a lot as well. How can you tell when he means it or not?" I ask, putting primer on my eyelids before starting to blend a light nude colour all over.

"Okay, look I get why you have your doubts, but we see things you don't apparently. He compliments you every time he sees you, he doesn't compliment us. His smile widens whenever you enter the room, hell his whole mood gets uplifted by your presence. He always tries to be close to you and put his arm around you when he can. He looks at you differently from how he looks at us."

Now that I think about it I can kind of see what she's on about. Jacob in the last couple of months has been giving me even more attention than before.

"I guess you're right, " I say sighing.

"Thank you! I honestly think he's been into you for the last 5-6 months, " she says, standing up to do my hair.

"The thing is that Jacob is not a shy guy, if he really liked me, especially for a while now, why hasn't he made a move? Why hasn't he asked me out yet?"

I look at Elise through my mirror as I put highlighter on my cheekbones. Her makeup looks flawless as always and the red dress she's wearing matches perfectly the red lipstick.

"You know, I actually think he gets shy around you. Maybe he's also afraid of ruining your friendship in case you don't feel the same or want to give him a chance. I don't blame him, I'll be scared shitless if I fancy a friend of mine, " she says as she brushes my hair.

"Yeah, me too, I can understand that but at the same time staying silent is not going to change anything. Like what is he trying to accomplish by that? Okay, his subtle moves give me a hint that he's interested in me and? Is he waiting for me to make the next move or something? I just wish he would've talked to me about it, " I say as I work on my wing liner.

"Do you like Jacob in that way?" She suddenly asks me, putting down the brush and taking the straightener.

"I never thought about him in that way," I say, putting down my eyeliner satisfied with the way it looks.

"Why am I sensing that there is a but coming?" She says, making eye contact with me through the mirror.

"But he's a really good friend. He's sweet, caring, funny, thoughtful and good looking. Jacob is a person that I can see myself falling for but again, with that being said I don't think I will. I don't think that moment would ever come, " I say, relaxing back in my chair.

"So, you wouldn't even give him a chance if he asks you out?" She asks, taking a final look at my straight hair before sitting back down next to me.

"I honestly don't know about that. I think is something that I'll decide on the spot, " I grab my nude lipstick and glide it on my lips to finish up my makeup.

"Do you have someone else on your mind?" She looks at me, smiling.

"No, why?" I chuckled, shaking my head.

"Not even Ian?" She wiggles her eyebrows at me.

"No, why do you ask about Ian?" I ask, trying to hide my smile by pressing my lips together.

"Well, Jacob seems to really dislike him, and I think it's because he views him as competition, " she says, shrugging.

"That's ridiculous! Ian and I are just friends and neither of us ever showed that we're interested, or anything so why would he get that idea?" I actually scoffed at what she said to me.

"It doesn't matter. Ian is a hot new guy friend of yours and you're spending a lot of time with him. Is logical for Jacob to get jealous or feel threatened by him."

"I still think is ridiculous, if Jacob wants me then he should just talk to me about it because I'll obviously meet new guys throughout my life, " I say, standing up to put my boots on.

"Well, if you really don't see him that way and you don't even want to give it a shot maybe you should talk to him. I don't know what Jacob is doing, I just don't want our group to fall apart because of this, " she says, coming next to me and falling on my bed on her back.

"I don't see why I should be the one to tell him something, I'm not the one interested but yeah, maybe, look don't worry neither I nor Jacob would let this get in between our friendship, okay?"

"Okay, I just want both of you to be happy!" She says, hugging me tightly.

"Yeah, me too, now come on the boys are waiting for us outside, " I say, picking up my coat and bag.

"Oh, God! Have they been waiting for a long time?" She asks, giggling.

"Well, it depends on what you classify as a long time. They've been waiting for 15 minutes. I didn't see Ian's text."

Yes, I finally have Ian's number. Took him a while to use that thing.

"Oh, 15 minutes is nothing, " she says, waving her hand around.

"Come on let's go, " I say, grabbing her hand and exiting the apartment.

"Jesus Christ, it took you girls long enough to get ready, " Eddie says, rolling his eyes at us with a smile on his face.

"Sorry, " I say, smiling.

"Not sorry, " Elise adds, making me chuckle.

"You look beautiful, " Ian says while looking at me in the eye.

"Thank you, you look handsome as well. All you boys do, " I add at the end not to come off as rude.

"Thank you, now shall we go girls? Frankie's waiting in the car," Eddie says, already walking off with Elise.

"Well, shall we?" Ian asks me, indicating for me to go first.

"Yes, we shall, " I say as I start walking toward the elevator.

I feel Ian's hand on my back as we walk, making me smile softly.

I think is going to be a good night tonight.
