"How much longer?" Harry asked me while he kept taking off his rings and putting them back on, which meant he was past the stage of simply twisting them... this was probably the most nervous I had ever seen him.

He wasn't even singing or humming, so it was serious.

The fact that the only light around us was coming from his phone's flashlight was probably the reason he was so on edge, but we couldn't turn on the lights inside the car. He assured me he was okay but I just knew he wasn't.

To be honest, none of us was.

We were parked right next to a lot of trees behind the property where the masquerade was being hosted. The shadows were hiding the car and we hadn't seen anyone during the time we were waiting.

And of course, we opted to sneak in through the back tonight. There had to be a guest list and we weren't there, so we had to do this the old fashioned way.

There was always a back door or another way in or out, and Harry mentioned he'd been here before and he remembered a door in the back that led to a kitchen. This mansion was actually huge, it had this classical vibe to it and it was literally in the middle of nowhere. There were many trees around and nothing else... no one else.

We drove by the front entrance and we could already see many expensive cars parked, but we agreed it was better to wait a bit longer so the place was crowded, it would be easier to blend in. Even though this was a masquerade, we had to be cautious... the plan wasn't to hide the fact we were here, but we needed to analyze our surroundings first. We couldn't let my mother or Desmond know instantly, I wasn't sure how they would react.

So the plan was to get them alone... Harry would go for his father and I would go for my mother, and we would demand the answers we fucking deserved before we ended them.

The only thing that helped me sleep last night was knowing that I was going to kill those responsible for this fucking chaos going on. I was honestly exhausted, I could only feel numbness... this weird emptiness that reminded me of the look in my dead brother's eyes.

It was good to keep Niall in my thoughts, after we were done with Catherine and Desmond, the next step would be the motherfuckers behind the list.

They would wish they hadn't dared to cross my way.

"Just a bit longer," I told Harry, glancing sideways at him.

The shadows made his jaw and cheekbones seem sharper, and his green eyes were nearly dark grey with the dim lighting. He was looking deep into mine, with his eyebrows slightly furrowed as if he was trying to figure out what I was thinking.

My head was the last place he wanted to be in, if only he knew. "Are you sure heels are a good choice for walking in the woods?" He asked me, raking his eyes down my body until he looked at my shoes.

Well, this was a fucking ball... we had to be dressed for it. We had to buy our masks and I needed an outfit, and this whole thing was reminding me of the masquerade charity auction where I got my list from and ran into Harry.

From that day on, everything changed.

It was kinda ironic that it was going to end the way it started, only this time I had backup. Harry's presence was honestly the only thing keeping me from completely losing my fucking mind, and I was pretty close to it.

I knew I could count on him no matter what, as soon as I told him about Niall and my theories, he didn't hesitate to say he'd help. He agreed that we should do this on our own and we prepared ourselves, mostly mentally.
