"I heard your prayers for me, mortal. So, here I am, as you like it. What do you wish for?" Vierne looked down at Annelece. He looked at her majestic eyes, her divine skin, her virtuous valour and fell on his knees, "I hear you, lady Gatekeeper! I cannot hear anything...But you, I hear you. You just arrived and I'm already healed, lady!" He could hear himself again, and that burst him into a bubble of happiness as he knocked the wooden floor or chapped his hands.

Finally, he got on his knees again and joined his hands, "Lady Gatekeeper, please set me free from this ordeal. I want to see princess Adelaida again and serve her again with my music,"
"Is that all you wish for?"
"Yes, that is all I want,"

She moved towards the door and held it with her right hand, it broke into pieces and fell apart. Annelece looked at her, full of childish wonder. She looked at him, "There, go. You are free now,"
"They won't let me leave that easily. This place is full of guards,"
"If I want you to leave, I'll make sure you do. Follow me,"

She held his hand and walked ahead of him in her tattered tunic, two guards walked up to her, "Wait right there. Who are you and where are you taking him?"
She ignored them and passed through them.
"Are you deaf like him?!"
"I'm not obliged to answer you,"

"You little-" One of them grabbed her arm and got shred to pieces. The other one dropped his gun and began trembling. She grabbed his neck and picked him up, "Time to go meet your pal in hell," Her eyes were glowing bright blue. He struggled as his eyes started turning blue.
"Lady Gatekeeper, please don't hurt them! They are just obeying orders!" Annelece was trembling too. She turned her head towards him, and he froze of terror, "P-Please-leave them"

"I don't take orders, I barely take suggestions," She left his neck and he fell on the floor, "Wish I had my septor so I wouldn't have to touch this rotten filth,"
She grabbed the guard's brown hair and looked into his eyes, "Lead us to the exit,"
"Ye-Yes,"
He got up and walked ahead. Vierne and Annelece walked after him. All other guards looked at them, "Wait, Seargent, what are you doing? That's a fatal prisoner! Do you want to plague the entire town?" The guard general stood up to him.

"There's no plague, and even if there will be one, I will protect you," Vierne said.
He looked at her, "Protect us? Who do you think you are? Some deity?"
"Of a sort,"
He laughed, "A madwoman,"

"I'm the Gatekeeper,"
"Yeah sure, lady Gatekeeper. You must have a septor then,"
"I did, I lost it on my way here,"
He laughed loudly, and all the other guards followed.
"Enough! Put that black kid into the dungeon and you," He grabbed Vierne's tunic, "You're coming with me. Let's see you show your "deity" powers, shall we,"

"Leave my dress," She looked into his eyes.
"As you wish, my lady," He tore her tunic down from her cleavage to her naval.
"Stop! What are you doing to our gatekeeper!" Annelece stood before her as they all laughed.

She looked down, her eyes slowly taking their glow from rage.
Annelece quickly removed his dirty rug and covered her with it, "Lady, here you go. I will protect you, don't worry!"
His fists turned to ice and he ran at them, but weak as he was, he was soon laying on the floor with blood surrounding his body. The general stepped on his stomach and walked towards Vierne, "What will you do now? Your knight in shining armour is near dead,"

She looked at Annelece, "If he could fight you monsters, he wouldn't need me,"
"No, lady Gatekeeper..."
"Now," She threw that dirty rug aside and they all howled, "It's my turn," Her skin shone bright and so did her eyes. She punched the general on his face and his face slowly deformed as all the bones broke and then his flesh melted, he fell on the floor.

She looked at the other guards, "Whose next?"

. . .

Adelaida was running ahead on her horse and Nataniel was following right behind her on his feet. A few metres away, Jevelene and Ariel slid their way in their ice skates. They were all on their way to the city of the Dead which was a few kilometres away now. Jevelene held the septor in her hands tightly. Suddenly, something hit her from the sky and she fell on the snow.
